I think I saw soemthing unusual this year with the list of players that may play in our favour. I see a number of DBs, QBs and WR that could go high in first round. We don't normally take DBs in first anyway, so this his might leave a a worthy lineman for us to pick up. I am guessing the Sreelers were so in love with Pouncey's performance this year that a nice left tackle pick up could be exciting. I know they alwys take top guy on board but I think a nose or DE would be a good pick up too.
I would love a cover corner but unless someone named God fell to them in their spot, I don't see it.
What do you guys think about the WR this year. Will teams bite in first or try and pick them up in second?

Well from our last couple drafts with WR's I would say pick another one up in the 3rd round lol. Well we will have another late round pick so if that is the case I would bring in Pouncey just on genetics alone. Offensive line and Defense needs to be addressed, but hell I have been saying that for years. I almost fell out of my chair last year with the Pouncey pick and hopefully they shock me this year and get more people we can use.
I have to say it has been nice this year to see rookies actually producing. I can only hope this is a trend that continues.

Keep an eye out for Robert Morris safety Mike Landers. His small school status has always kept him under the radar (WPIAL Single-A Springdale, FCS RMU). He would have exceeded at any level so far, so this makes him a darkhorse for an impact undrafted free agent rookie. Kind of like Danny Woodhead, but on the other side of the ball.
Nice to see Landers make your list.

Of the OTs.....I like DeMarcus Love alot and have been high on him.....I feel he never has put it all together yet but I think he will be one of those players that rises up draft boards........In my opinion Derek Sherrod from Miss. State is the best fit for the Steelers offense.......But Love is that classic boom/bust prospect......

Thanks .. interested to know your thoughts on :
- why ingram is so high .. what is it that you see that gives him that spot .. same question for pryor
- i see you still have floyd at a decent spot .. why have others lost faith ?
- based on where heyward is on others boards it looks like we have a shot at him .. do you think that when draft time rolls around we will still have a shot?
- ryan williams sure slipped .. is that more him dropping or others rising?

-Mark Ingram won't get drafted anywhere near #2 overall, but I believe if you fast forward 10 years you will be hard pressed to find a player in this class with a more productive NFL career. Emmitt Smith 2.0...
-I've never been as high on Michael Floyd as most. He looks too stiff to me, and injuries are an issue with him. Boom or bust prospect IMO.
-Heyward probably is off the board by the time the Steelers pick. Do you think they would draft him? Looking down the road he would be a nice addition, but initially things would be kind of crowded at DE.
-Ryan Williams hasn't been anywhere near as impressive to me this year as last year. He started the season in my top 25, as did Dion Lewis.

i think they would consider him, but as of right now i see something in the secondary as the most likely move (moore, mcdaniel) ..
i, just like you i am sure, have a bias towards BPA vs. need so since we do not really know BPA yet, i would say if i had to pick an area to improve i would say ..
needs improvement-FS, CB, RG, LT, ILB
Better depth - SS, NT, OLB
and the players i would not pass on or possibly move up for if for some reason they happen to be there or are in close reach ..
1st - Julio Jones, Brandon Harris, Adrian Clayborn
2nd - greg little
so i guess my way too early, optimistic/realistic list would be ..
1. Rahim Moore
2. Greg Little
--- Added 12/28/2010 at 08:37 PM ---
btw i don't really want mcdaniel .. would much rather have moore

I like Rahim Moore too, but I don't think he lasts into the 20's. A team like the Texans could really use him.

one guy that i really have always liked is clayborn .. sometimes i think he could be an effective 3-4 end, like real good, he seems to play a little bigger than his size at times, like what ziggy was supposed to be .. u agree? i would probably add him to that list of "unpassables"
also,do you think kerrigan can make a case for being a less risky projection than some of the 3-4 OLB's over the past few years?
Marcell Dareus - what would be your brief take on him and why he is where he is on your list?

Wow you do a lot of work, thanks. I live in Lexington KY right now and wouldnt mind seeing us pick up R. Cobb for Kentucky in the 3rd or 4th if he is still there. I think he could be ARE 2.0, but be in his prime rather than the "old man" we have now.

I agree, Cobb would be a nice addition. In ways he's similar to Hines Ward after the catch (more so a young Hines Ward) able to wiggle through defenders for a extra yards.

I like your list of "overall" as well. CBS has to many O linemen in their top 20 I think. The hard part about looking at different lists is that some people have a bias toward DE/OLB and others prefer O line, etc. so you get a lot of variance.
I am going to try and look at the numbers and see where I think the best opportunity lies for the Steelers to pick up 3 quality players in rounds 1-3. I hope they pick up O-line, D-line and DB (not in any particular order) in their first three picks and don't reach for anyone. I am hoping for value and contribution in year one. I suppose that means the DB needs to be round one or they won't see field much, but it's too early for me to pick anyone still.
Go Steelers!!!!!!!

i don't understand why everyone has bowers as #1 .. this draft is looking real weak at the top imo .. Green and Peterson to me are special, but without an elite QB, OT or DE it throws things off
i have a hard time imagining daniel thomas outside of the first round despite the supposed lack of wow factor.. he is deceivingly agile for his size and looks real low risk
