Pittsburgh Steelers (http://www.nfl.com/teams/pittsburghsteelers/profile?team=PIT) linebacker James Harrison has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for a hit on Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick (http://www.nfl.com/players/ryanfitzpatrick/profile?id=FIT792915), according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10334/1107184-100.stm#ixzz16nl440tM).
Harrison was flagged for a roughing-the-passer penalty on the play because the officials ruled Harrison led with the crown of his helmet.
The three-time Pro Bowler said Monday that he was not expecting a fine for the hit, since it was similar to a hit on Raiders QB Jason Campbell (http://www.nfl.com/players/jasoncampbell/profile?id=CAM375235) in Week 11 in which he drew a penalty but not a fine.
"It's the exact thing as last week. It was the same exact hit. I hit him (Fitzpatrick) the same way I did the quarterback from Oakland and I got the same flag but I didn't get a fine. ... I'm expecting the same thing on this."
Harrison has been fined a total of $125,000 for four illegal hits this season

He should have given Fitz a Richard Seymour punch to the head because that's only $25,000 and would be money better spent.

I would not be surprised if this is his last year and would not be able to blame him for walking away from this BS. The way hitler is going, hockey will be taking over as the most popular sport.........

I suppose we can be glad that it's only 25K, for James sake. Tomlin mentioned today that sometimes we don't take as serious as we should the fact that 100K is 100K no matter who you are. Harrison has 2 kids and even though he makes a lot of money it's still ridiculous to fine players for playing the game like it should be.

It's getting to the point he is literally going to have to bear hug a QB, but nor drop him to the ground until the ref blows the play dead. If they're going to have a quick draw on throwing the flag, they'd better have a quick draw on "in the grasp" as well.

Hey, a street brawl on a football field nets you a 25 large fine and apparently so does an "illegal hit." Makes sense to me.:willybs:

this may fade away after the nfl union contract is completed.

for 25k harrison should have punched him in the mouth! Then again if harrison were to do that he would get slapped with a 100k fine and a suspenion!

Don't take this the wrong way because I'm not complaining on the size of the fine but didn't the NFL fine Harrison for $100K the last time saying he was a repeat offender. So why is this fine $25K? It just shows you they are grabbing in the air with no real structure in place. :dontgetit:

He should have ripped his helmet off and threw a couple punches to make it count. I mean it's basically the same **** in Goodell's eyes since it warrents a 25k fine lmao

I knew he wouldn't get suspended before the Ravens game though

It's because of the way he followed through with the hit. If they saw Harrison was unprofessional about it, maybe the outcome would be different. Damn, i hope he plays Sunday. :imho: i don't think he will get suspended.

So, Seymour and Johnson get fined 25K for PUNCHING A GUY IN THE HEAD which is the same amount that James Harrison gets for DOING HIS JOB?!

Congratulations NFL, you've officially ruined football for me.

Totally agree, and not because i'm a diehard steeler fan. It's gotten to the point of harassment by goodell on harrison.I'd like to see him pull a al davis and file a lawsuit.Have you noticed the last 2 weeks-we're not blitzing at all? I think the nfl has made us gun-shy to blitz.

I hope so much that the Steelers win...and when it's all over, I would love to see Silverback look up to Roger's suite, cause you know he's gonna be there and give the Commish a double finger salute. That would be a fine worth paying towards charity!

It's time Rooney has a talk with Adolf before it's too late and I am talking more about the Steelers being singled out with silly flags than James' fines. We have enough issues and struggles as it is, if referees continue to be against us, we have very little chance of winning SB this year.

Your right... the only one Roger Goofball will listen to is the owners. Rooney has to step up and say something.

Just a note... There is a poll with 8423 votes on ESPN and 52% voted that Harrison is unfairly being singled out. Just interesting assuming these are fans voting from many different teams.

I was listening to a DEADSKINS radio show just a few minutes ago, and there were talking about how ridiculous the fines are getting. For those of you who don't know about the Deadskin fans, when they start defending another team, you know something's up. It's just like they said. Johnson and Finnegan got fined 25K for getting into a hockey type fight on a football field. Ocho Cinco got fined 30K for wearing a sombraro on the sideline and having fun. So the message that they're sending is that it's worse to have harmless fun than to start a boxing match in the middle of a play?

Does the punishment fit the crime? Not really.
