View Full Version : Papa John's Founder Buying Stake In Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins "are in the process of being sold," and John Schnatter, chairman and founder of Papa John's International Inc., is involved the purchase, according to a report from Sports Business Daily, a sister paper to Business First.

Sports Business Daily cites sports blog ProFootballTalk.com, which in turn cites a source knowledgeable of the transaction, who says Jordan Zimmerman, founder and chairman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Zimmerman Advertising and a co-owner of the NHL's Florida Panthers, "will become majority owner of the Dolphins."

Schnatter will be "involved in the new ownership," the report said. He could not be reached for comment.

Chris Sternberg, senior vice president of corporate communications for Papa John's, said the company is not involved in a Dolphins deal. He said he doesn't know whether or not Schnatter is considering a personal investment in the team.

Perhaps coincidentally, both Papa John's and the Dolphins are clients of Zimmerman Advertising, and Dolphins quarterback hall of famer Dan Marino recently appeared in advertisements for Louisville-based Papa John's (NASDAQ: PZZA).
