Big thanks goes out to Lloydfan4life, who met Jim and picked up an autographed copy of the book last weekend when he was in Pittsburgh for the game. In their conversations on Saturday evening I believe it was, he sent me a text with the picture he got with Jim. I texted him back and asked him to talk to Jim about possibly doing an interview with us.

I spoke to Mr. O'brien via email just today and he was gracious enough to give us alittle time next week to speak with him.

I'll be lining up some questions to ask so if anybody has them please post up here or PM them to me ASAP! I don't know the exact date/time of the call yet but I should find that out in the coming days.

Very cool, Matt! I'm so glad you got in touch with him! Jim has a super great personality and should make for one heck of an interview! I was blessed to be able to run into him out there and have him autograph my book. Spent quite a bit of time talking to him and outside of seeing harrison pile drive the browns in person it was the highlight of my weekend in Pittsburgh!

Here's a few pics...

This one has been a bit delayed but I just spoke to him last night and this morning via email. As soon as we're done with the Ike Taylor interview this one will be next up on the list to happen probably later next week or the following at the latest.

Ok everyone, I just finished talking to Jim O'brien a few minutes ago. What an amazing individual. He was an exception person to speak with and the stories he can tell you are just a treat to listen too. He gave us a lot of great insight on not only Art Rooney-The Chief, but his insight on today's Steelers is second to none. He loves Pittsburgh, and I would challenge anyone to find a more knowledgeable, insightful, and delightful person to talk too.

I'll be posting up the phone interview here in just a minute, I would encourage everyone to give it a listen.

Link to the phone interview is in the first post in this thread.

That was nothing short of a great job. Really Matt you did a very professional job you may have a future in the business. Thank you very much. I was just a little disappointed you didn't throw in a "frickin" though.

Jim O'Brien is certainly Mr. Pittsburgh and very knowledgeable. I never had any idea that he had so many books. I found his thoughts on Tomlin and Cowher very interesting. I took it as he really doesn't think Cowher will be a great coach if he goes somewhere else and gets more power. Although he said it like he was thinking of Bill and leading a normal life. :) He's very impressed with Tomlin's intelligence, which would surprise a lot of people on here along with his opinion that the NFL isn't out to get the Steelers. There is no conspiracy in NY to keep the Steelers from being successful.

I'm going to go order a couple of his books now. I wonder if I can find any of them on Audio book format?

Very cool interview Matt!

Jim is such a great guy and his personality just draws you to him. I could have stayed and talked to him at hometown sports all night long. I'll treasure my autographed book always!

We definitely have to buy dinner for him one evening while we're in the Burgh in April for Fan Fest. It would be a really enjoyable evening sitting around listening to him talk.

For anyone from SA who is close to Columbus Ohio, I would highly recommend taking the time to see Jim when he's there next sunday at Gresso's Pub & Grill, and spend a little time talking to him. You will NOT regret it!

...and Jim, if you're reading this, thank you very much for taking the time to do the interview with Steeler Addicts. :cope: I salute you, Sir! :cope:

Thanks Larry, he's such a personable guy you can't help but get taken in when he starts talking about everything he knows. I was pleasantly surprised when he gave me his thoughts on Ben, Jeff Reed, Tomlin, Cowher, etc. He's an old school type of guy that understands what it means to be a Steeler fan and what it means for players to be part of the Steelers organization.

No doubt John, we will definitely buy him dinner next April at Fan Fest, I'm sure the night will just fly by with the stories he can share.
