Would anyone be interested in trading 2 tickets to the Thursday, Dec 23 game VS the Carolina Panthers FOR 2 tickets for the Sunday, Dec 19 game VS the NY Jets??? (I would pay the difference if any or a slight premium for better seats)

Also, how are scalpers outside the stadium for December games??? How much do they generally ask over face value??? I am looking on eBay right now and they aren't too bad (StubHub is a ripoff and nobody should support them).

Thanks!

Gotta be careful with scalpers, more and more you find them as undercover personnel and you can get your *** in trouble. I've seen good seats go for slightly over face value up to as much as 100.00 over. Really depends on who's playing and what's at stake.

i'm going to the steelers/jets game, but i'm def. not giving up my tickets (i have 3 ppl going with me)...but i know that if you go tailgate (i tailgate on the corner lot caddycorner to the casino), and you wait till about 10 min before/10 min after kickoff, ppl are out selling their tickets pretty cheap...

we met a guy and his friend during last years steelers/ravens game during tailgating...they got box seats for $175/person right before kickoff...him and his fiance were at the game this year, and they got seats (not sure where this time) for about $85/person

Good to know!
Since this is my first time to Pittsburgh and I would like to have good seats, I am going to try and get a good deal on eBay... If not, then I will just try before the game.

I also am looking for Penguins tickets for Dec 20th and 22nd. But I assume these will be fairly easy to get outside the arena for around face value.

try stubhub too...the processing fee sucks to pay, but it's probably the most secure way to get tickets...

Heh.. Yeah StubHub's prices are RIDICULOUS. They're a middle man who takes 10% from the seller, 15% from the buyer, and then charges a fee on top of it. I've always found MUCH better deals on eBay on plain auctions or "buy it now". Just requires a little research and comparison with the completed listings to know what the going rate is. You pay through paypal with eBay and there is the whole dispute resolution so there is no reason to be concerned they are not real tickets imo.

Got my hotel and flights booked! Got the Marriott City Center downtown for $85+tax/night!

not sure how i missed the stubhub comment in the first post..but i agree...i hate the fact that it's overpriced...but i like the security of knowing i'm getting my tickets if i order them...i don't take too kindly to getting ripped off, esp for $500+

I found some good tickets in section 238 Row D... they are $200 face value and the guy wants $520 for the pair. $60/ticket extra. Seems like a decent deal.

Are these good seats? seems like they would be (club seats)

How did you get that for $85?? Looking on their site now, it is a right rip at 250 a night!!!

PRICELINE!

Go to www.betterbidding.com and goto Pennsylvania, type in Pittsburgh at the bottom left to filter for posts on what people have been getting for hotels in Downtown Pittsburgh. Also check hotwire to see what the 3.5 and 4 star downtown hotels are going for on your dates.

Then name your price on Priceline and hope you get it. Do some reading on better bidding on how to get "re-bids" too. You can only technically bid once every 24 hours but there are little tricks around it.

I also got the Wyndham on the Pitt Campus for $54+tax on a sat night.

Try craigslist for tickets also. I've always had great luck on there, especially the day before or day of the game.

I got some for face value in section 518, but I would really like to move behind the Steelers bench somewhere if I could.

THANK YOU for the tip! Got the Omni William Penn Hotel for $100 a night. Not bad considering they were wanting something like double that online. I like that hotel too, little bit of old school charm that the girl should appreciate.

Definitely will be in town now for the game. And the Pens game on Monday. Excited at my first games at the "new" Heinz field (I haven't been in Pittsburgh since my folks lived there till just before it opened, so only been to 3 Rivers) and the NEW Consol Energy Centre.

Am thinking we'll drive from NY out there, cos the bus timetables are not convenient.

Now, to find tickets on cragslist or similar....

Excellent! The Omni is a 4 star... Marriott I got is a 3.5 star. $100 is a great deal!
How long are you in town for?

I will be at the Consol for the Monday night game vs the Pheonix Coyotes as well! Look for the people in the Winnipeg Jets gear!

Get in to town on Saturday, leave Tuesday. Booking a car from across the river in New Jersey (am in NYC now) and gonna drive to Pittsburgh, maybe via lunch in Philly.

Alright igor, if I see someone in Winnipeg Jets gear, I'll holler at you. No idea what I will be wearing, but if you see an Aussie couple freezing their arses off, that will be us. haha
