The Steelers made a roster move today when they signed first-year linebacker Brandon Renkart to a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Renkart (6-2, 245) was originally signed a free agent by the New York Jets in July, 2008 before being waived prior to the start of the regular season. He spent time on the Jets’ practice squad in 2008 and then was released following their 2009 training camp. Renkart spent time on the Arizona Cardinals’ practice during the 2009 season and then was signed to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad on Dec. 30, 2009. He was recently waived by the Colts.

The Steelers made room for Renkart on their roster by placing six-year veteran linebacker Andre Frazier on the Reserve/Injured List with a knee injury.

This dude is a walking injury. I will say this, every time I see him in person at training camp (throughout the years) he is so impressive physically. I think he's a much better player than most realize.

He was a good special teams player ( when healthy ) but never could stay on the field!!

I agree, that's why they keep him around. It really sucks to see him get hurt so much, he has so much potential to be a really solid linebacker in the NFL.

yeah impressive like anthony madison or chidi iwuoma, yet totally expendable
