Steelers Swap Fullbacks
The Pittsburgh Steelers claimed fullback Dwayne Wright off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fullback Demetrius Taylor has been waived to make room for Wright on the 80-man training camp roster.

A fourth-round pick (111th overall) out of Fresno State in 2007 by the Buffalo Bills, Wright (5-11, 228) had 29 carries for 94 yards and caught 3 receptions for 17 yards in 15 games as a rookie.

After gaining 80 yards on 34 carries the following summer, Wright was waived by the Bills and spent the '08 season as a street free agent. Signed by the New York Giants last January, Wright failed to make the 53-man roster and again, spent the fall out of football before joining the Eagles in January.

The Eagles waived Wright on Sunday.

Nothing real special about this move at this point; Dwyer (if he gets and stays healthy with that hamstring) has a real good shot a being the starting FB on this team if Arians ever sees fit to use one on a regular basis.

dwyer isnt a FB, hes a runner, not a blocker at the pro level.

high hopes for taylor were short lived

i was thinking maybe the bengals would send fui vakapuna to the ps and we could try him out. they have way to many 1-2 year rookies on the 80 man roster right now.

he may get released.

This. Exactly this. I was about to write almost the exact same thing...

I was hoping we just turned Redman into the FB and got rid of Summers.

To me, just the fact that they are concerned about getting a good FB is a good sign. Last year they would have shrugged it off.
