.............since ESPN is reporting that Alan Faneca will be cut by the end of the weekend, should the Steelers make a play for him, at 33 years old? I say YES, who better to bring Pouncy along? For the right price, I say he gets at least a one year contract here! Anyonew else want him back?:yellowthumb:

Yeah I"d take Faneca back for one season. Because I don't want Pouncey going to guard. We need Pouncey at center to combat Nalga, Cody and that Ravens D-line. Having Pouncey and Faneca next to him would be a upgrade and then we can go back and address the O-line again in next year's draft.

Good point, I`m alright with that!

We should definitely take Faneca back for at least one year--he must be over the disappointment of not being offered the long term contract he wanted by now

If we can get him, I don't see a reason not to. He was great while he was here and our line was dynamite. Him and Pouncey would do great things together.

And I`m sure Ben would love to see him back!

Tomlin just nixed the idea of bringing Faneca back in an interview with Trey Wingo on ESPN

he gave up 7 sacks last year. the jets believe he really underperformed in pass protection so that's why they're letting him go. not sure i would bring him back

If we could get Faneca on the cheap, plus we rededicate ourselves to running the ball more, Fanenca would be fine.

I saw a banner on NFL.com that the Bears are really interested in Faneca--at least he'll be in the NFC

The Bears are interested in anything that has a pulse because their still suffering from giving all their picks away for Cutler. hahaha

If we were to bring Faneca back, what would happen to Kemoeatu? I like Kemoeatu and think he has been getting better. If Faneca really is declining in pass protection but can still run block, that isn't really any better than Kemoeatu as far as I'm concerned. I would be OK with Faneca coming back though. Hell, we've brought just about everyone else back. lol.

We don't need an aging guard with an attitude problem. Like Tomlin said we are going young. Keep the geriatrics away.

Don't mistake Tomlin gamesmanship for honesty. The fact is that Big Red would be the best Lineman on this team again. And despite him being upset w/us two years ago we treated him a helluva lot better than the Jets.

I couldn't stand Ryan's lying "we just wanted to release him, not trade him to a team where he may not want to go". The only thing fatter than that lie is Ryan himself - they shopped him all weekend but no takers b/c everyone knew he'd be released.

lol that or Chicago, bears didn't address any needs in their draft. I think they will gobble up any vet they can.

The difference with Faneca VS all the other Steelers reunion players is that Faneca whined and complained about the Steelers not treating him right. All the other reunion players left for more money which is understandable... Screw Faneca unless he comes in gets on his knees and apologizes to the Steelers organization.

like i said before, the numbers indicate that faneca had one of the worst season by a guard in pass protection last year. with air brucie's scheme, we don't need to bring in somebody else who's going to suck in pass protection

i'd take him back in a minute. still better than anyone we have on the line. i think he still made the pro bowl.

He made the Pro Bowl on name alone...he had a terrible season and I am not so sure that he would truly be an upgrade over what we have now with the drafting of Pouncey. I don't think he'd be worth the money to sign him back...

agree and especially because he had a lousy season in terms of pass protection. faneca's strength is in run blocking. with air brucie running things, we need guys who can pass block. he was never a great pass blocker anyway and he's clearly declining. he left on bad terms, is old and wants a big payday so i'd stay away. just my :2cents:
