Most football players hoping to get drafted this week will be careful not to express any opinions that could be construed as the least bit controversial, lest they be viewed as the type who rocks the boat.

Myron Rolle is not like most football players.

Rolle, the Florida State defensive back turned Rhodes Scholar, was asked today what he thinks of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspending Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

"I think it's awesome," Rolle answered. "He's showing his stance on character issues by the suspension and by his positioning with a lot of players."

Rolle said he thinks character counts in football and he's glad the commissioner of the NFL agrees.

"I'm happy to see a league that values good men," Rolle said. "I believe I am that. And I believe there are a lot more that need to be celebrated."

Rolle also made an interesting comment about two of Roethlisberger's teammates, Steelers defensive backs Ike Taylor and William Gay, who work out with Rolle and have told him what Roethlisberger is like.

"They say he's a lot of fun to be around," Rolle said, "but some of the decisions he's made haven't been the best."

I think he meant its awesome that Goodell is trying to keep the NFL players in line and willing to punish the players who dont follow the rules, more than its awesome Ben is suspended

All the academic brilliance in the world cannot help you say the right things when a microphone gets shoved in your face. My hunch is that he probably would choose his words much more carefully next time.
