I still think Dixon will be the number 2. Batch is there as a mentor and emergency QB.

TWO year deal? Colbert has gone insane. Absolutely ridiculous, Batch has nothing left.

From their point of view it makes sense; you have your young backup who showed some potential in limited playing time last year. You now have your veteran there who is not only a mentor to Dixon but also somebody who can be a confident for Ben and help him out. We've heard many times how much Ben values having Batch on the sidelines with him; and Charlie was the one that had that come to Jesus talk with Ben in his second year.

It makes sense to have the savy old veteran backing up the young 2nd stringer who's backing up the starter.

I would love to know what they gave him just to be here! Last contract he had, he screwed the steelers. Now they are going to have him back again as mentor/emergency! What the hell for.
He should have just said screw it and agreed to come back for 1 year and start coaching (at least until this Ben bullshit blew over)

Exactly. Batch also can come in and produce. He's looked fine everytime I"ve seen him in. Excellent depth move.

If he is moved to third, its a great move! He knows the playbook better than anyone, and dixon will still be second qb so np.
