The last thing in the world we need is a game 7. This isn't the first time they failed to close out a series. We can only hope that they come out with a fire and passion on Saturday and end this.

I still don't think it will go 7. The Pens came out lackadaisical in the 1st Period and gave up two quick ones...that shouldn't happen again.

they haven't won consecutive games since early march and that was five games, minus that they havent won three straight since december

We all wanted to see them win it at home in game 5 and get some much needed rest. It went to 3 overtimes and they lost than game 6 which was anything but easy. The positive of that is they had to of become stronger. The last 5 series have been won on the road, we lost many game 1's, again they come back from 3-0 hole to win the game and series. I think that all of these are making them a battle harden club that won't be discouraged no matter what the situation. They now will have some rest and I'm more confident that they'll be ready for round 2 than I was for round 1.

Is there a chance that the Habs will win 2 more games? I doubt it but we can wish! :)

Well..if you've been noticing the pattern between the Pens and Caps series (a.k.a everytime the Pens win the Caps win, everytime the Pens lose the Caps lose) the Caps will be winning tonight. We just need to be ready for a possible series against them in round 3.

That was a fun game to watch. Halak played an awesome game. One of the best I can remember in a long time. The Caps lost the last 2 years in game 7's at home. Will this be 3 years in a row?

Old man Recchi and the Bruins win their series so the Pens will have home ice in the 2nd round against the Flyers, Bruins or Habs.

Captain Caveman Ovechkin and the Caps with a tremendous choke job against the 8th seed Canadiens and the Caps were up 3 games to 1.....lol Just like last year against the Pens....Caps love blowing those 3-1 leads in a series...lol Jaroslav Halak has been great the past three games in the Series......Thanks Caps for giving the Pens the home ice for the rest of the play-offs.....

Halak is going to be tough for the Pens but one thing the Pens do better then the Caps is score dirty goals......What I mean by that is look at the Caps most of their goals are pretty and they really don't like to do the dirty work in the trenches......The Pens don't mind scoring pretty or dirty.....

The Caps fans all they have now are excuses.....Really if this so called dynasty lived up the hype they would have swept the 8th Canadiens or won it in five......Really if the Canadiens should have won it 6 games....They blew a three goal lead in game two.....I'll take Crosby all day every day over Capt. Caveman Ovechkin.....Crosby wins Cups, gold medals, even a goal scoring title this year........while capt. Caveman can't even get his team out of the first round...lol Only once in his career...lol

The one thing that's great about living in DC (besides my rights to trash talk tomorrow) is listening to the Caps commentators whining about every little call during that game. Get over it Caps! Ya choked! You had 4 games that you could have won but didn't. Sorry! Better luck next year.

What a disappointing season for Washington. I can't even imagine the backlash and bitching from the fans. But to think now the Penguins are the top seed in the East. 1, 2, and 3 all gone. The two biggest obstacles, Devils and Caps, out of the way in round 1! Who could have imagined that. I am sure Betman has to be pissed that the East won't end up Ovie vs Sid. Would have been a huge headline for hockey. Penguins are sitting nice right now to go back to the finals.

Yes it surely is a huge blow. I think we can make it through the East without him, but it's going to be tough to beat the west. I guess Talbot will take his place on the 3rd line. Geno is going to have to take it to another level which he is very capable of. We also need Kennedy back.

I was driving home from Pittsburgh so I dvr'd the game and watched it last night without knowing the outcome. Being in town ever talk show host , callers and people I talked to predicted a Pens sweep or win in 5. I guess 5 is still a possibility but it's seldom that easy. I believe they will put that game behind them and play a lot more disciplined in Montreal tomorrow.

I watched the Sharks/Wings last night too. What a fun game and good to see the Wings down 2-0.

I don't think MAF played that badly yesterday...two of those goals, he was hung out to dry by the defense. Give Montreal credit...they outplayed the Pens on both ends of the ice. This is not going to be an easy series by any means.
If Adams winds up getting suspended for that hit on Bergeron, they could be in real trouble depth wise.

Along with your friends it would be cool to do the same to our old friend, #81! :)

I understand your feelings. For the last 2 years I got to crush the dreams of many of my friends when the Pens ended the Flyers season. There's still a chance of that happening although it's very slim. The Pens need to win 1 out of 2..the Flyers 3 in a row.

The Pens did almost everything right last night. They played physical even Sid threw a crushing check on Hal Gil, he looked like he was number 86 in black and gold not 87. They blocked shots, Flower was in a zone and they cleared the rebounds quickly. On O they cycled the puck well and kept it in their zone, had a presence in front of the net and took great shots from the point. About the only thing they didn't do was there were a few opportunities they should have converted down low, and to take a penalty with 2:30 left in the game isn't the best thing to do. A great team effort we need the same thing tomorrow.

I never would have guessed this. Not bad for a coach who has just a little over a year experience.

Head coach Dan Bylsma won his 23rd postseason game for Pittsburgh, tying him with Scottie Bowman for first place on the team’s all-time playoff list. With another win Bylsma would surpass Bowman and become the first Penguins head coach to win six playoff series in his career.

In my opinion what you are seeing in this series is the Habs putting at least 4 guys and often 5 in front of the net and clogging up all the shooting lanes. The defensive guys on the Pens are wide open to take shots from the point. The problem is the Habs have so many guys who can see it coming including the goalie that it makes it fairly easy to block the shot. In game 5 we got a couple goals on those shots because we got a guy or 2 in front to screen them. If you noticed Geno and sometimes Sid skating back and forth behind the goal I believe they are trying to do a couple things. One make their goalie look back and forth and maybe confuse him a little and two draw 2 or more of the guys from the front of the net opening up a pass to someone who would have a shooting lane. The Habs have done a great job by staying disciplined and not having more than one or two guys follow them. The biggest problem has been us not converting on the chances that we do get, Geno missed a few, Duprious missed 2 great chances last night. It seems that we either miss the goal entirely, hit the goalie in the chest, or clang a pipe.

Except for a few mistakes that the Habs have taken advantage of I think our D has played very well. MAF has let in his soft goal or 2 a game but he'll be fine.

I look for Sid and the entire team to step it up tomorrow and win by 2 goals. I'm trying not to think about the Islanders beating a Pens team that was much better than this team in a game 7 in Pgh. or Jovanowski scoring from around the red line to win another game 7 in Pgh. Or the Steelers losing all the AFC Championship games at home.

This is one of the worst games I can remember :evilshake: Fleury totally gave the game up..with a combination of others.

looks like the pens are following right in the 2009 steelers footsteps. when you show up for a big game yu need to play big. oh well, as long as I am alive there is always next year right. Wuz Sidney playin 2 nyte?

Sid and Geno only have 1 goal each for these past 7 games..this was not the time for them to be in a slump. Gonchar played an absolutely despicable game too..and one of those goals was Orpik's fault for not letting that guy go and getting back into the play. And as far as Fleury goes..I like the guy, but it would have been nice if he could have tried to stop a shot or 2. This team has loads to work on and look back on during the off season.

Sid, Geno didn't live up top the hype this series. BUT give the Habs and Hal Gill some credit, they played their asses off...Not to mention Halak, the dude is MONEY!!!

I give the Habs tons of credit..they beat off the President's Cup winners and the defending Stanley Cup champs in back to back series, and they did it well. I could definitely see them being the cinderella story this year.

I could see them making the finals for sure...

Disappointing to say the least. But hats of to the Habs and best of luck next round, they deserved to win.

2009 was a great year to have won the Super Bowl and the Stanley Cup. We'll give them a pass this year and thank them for the great times. But next year we'll expect another one! :) Remember that Sid, Geno, Jordan and MAF are very young and they will return. Get some rest this summer, fill a few holes in the lineup and give'em hell next year in the new arena boys.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette has a really cool video up on their site from opening day at the Civic Arena in 1961. It is really awesome to see how new it was back then. Here is a llink

Fleury is not disappointing. He is a good goalie. That loss falls on undisciplined play. Chris Kunitz and Kris Letang both coughed the puck up a few times. Gonchar was playing a poor game. Bad passing and stupid penalties.

Yes he only allowed 2.71 goals per game but without that shutout, he played total bollocks compared to Niemi, Raask and Havlak.

It is dissapointing.

Where were the pens? I'm hella disappointed in the way they gave up on plays, passes, and trying to win. Can't believe it. Guess they didn't want to repeat. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. See you in the fall boys.
