Oh fantastic.

Because special teams isn't in bad shape as it is.

I just had a flashback to the Giants game last season.

Warren is one of the most dependable players on the team, you rarely if ever, see a bad snap. This is a bad time for this to happen because a bad long snapper can be a nightmare in a close game, as bad as we are in close games here lately (save for yesterday) this isn't good at all!

James harrison can fill in til we find someone. :eek1:

Harrison? Only if it happens in a game! The Steelers will pick up someone!

I am sure we will have someone signed by tomorrow afternoon

Im actually pretty sure that Hartwig have been practising longsnapping this offseason, but they'll bring in some LS specialist - its not like they are very hard to find, but obviously whoever gets the call will be rusty

This guy has fragile knees it seems. Didnt the same injury happen to him last year?

12-21-2009, 02:36 PM
I dont remember did we have anyone in this preseason with him?

i remember Mike Schneck was before him, but dont remember who we signed when he got hurt in 08 either...

What about the guy we got last year when Warren got hurt Jared Retkofsky I believe or whatever his name is?? He did a great job last year when Warren went down after the Giants game. Im sure he isnt playing anywhere now so give him a call and bring him back on the team...

WHat about the kid last year, Jaret Restofsky? He was signed once Warren went down and did OK.

Forgive me for the spelling.

Yeah I believe he was our LS during our Super Bowl run last year. I think they said he was a furniture mover before we tried him out

Steelers lose Warren, Sweed

Posted by Mike Florio on December 21, 2009 9:20 PM ET
The Steelers announced earlier today that two members of the team will miss the rest of the 2009 season.

Gone are long snapper Greg Warren and receiver Limas Sweed.

Warren suffered a torn ACL on the game-winning untimed down following the touchdown that tied Sunday's game against the Packers at 36. He has been placed on injured reserve.

Last year, Warren suffered a torn ACL in the other leg in October, and he missed the rest of the season.

The Beaver County Times reports that Jared Retkofsky has been signed to replace Warren. The Steelers turned to Retkofsky last season after Warren's injury, and Retkofsky snapped for the team in the playoffs and Super Bowl XLIII.

Sweed has been placed on the reserve/non-football illness list. His specific condition hasn't been disclosed.

But, as we noted the other day, it's good to know that he can catch something.
