Ben needs to have a hot route to dump the ball off when teams blitz like Cincy did Sunday. Way too many sacks. Brady uses Welker and his backs. We have Holmes, Wallace, Heath, and could use a back when we spread the field. We also need to hrow more slants to Wallace and Holmes especially when teams put 6 or 7 in the box.

I agree with ya - now lets get B.A. to try them - moore is great in this situation. our offence is predictable - we never throw a screen ???

hard to hit the hot route on a seven step drop.

I know Ben is very proud of his completion percentage but sometimes you have to throw the ball away. You can take sacks inside the 10 yard line. He also can't take Timeouts with a minute to go on the 8 yard line with a team on the ropes. That gave Cincy time to settle and call goal line defenses. He seems to struggle with clock management with two minutes to go or less. Two minutes is a lot of plays in the NFL. You can't leave teams like NE with any time left. The Colts did an outstanding job of running the clock out on NE. Something we don't seem to be able to do. Mendenhall should have had more carries. He averaged 100+ over the previous 5 games. Ben threw 40 some times. If it's 3rd and 10 he has to hit the man right in front of him for 11 instead of throwing it 20-30 for an incompletion. Several 3rd downs against Cincy he had an easy first down right in front of him and got greedy and we had to punt.

I see this as a problem with Ben, He's always looking for that great yards pick-up when he has guy wide open for the first. I bitch about this all the time. :duh:

He can't take seven steps when people stack the line like Sunday. We could use Holmes or Wallace just like NE uses Welker. If they would start with the slants and quick stuff the longer routes will be there as they will have to move up to stop the short routes.
Ben just can't seem to make the quick reads and will not throw the ball away. 1st and goal at the 8 with a chance to win the game and he takes a 10 yd sack. Very stupid play by Ben.

we all know he holds on to the ball. it's apart of his game but think about it 2 rings with the qb so i'm not complaining.

You can hold the ball when it's 4 or 5 guys coming, but especially Not if 6 or 7 coming against 5 blockers. You also can't take a 10 yard sack looking right at the guy at the 8 yard line with a minute to go. Ball game. That had Cincy on the ropes with 1st and goal with a minute to go and he calls timeout? That was smart and then come back from a timeout and take the sack.

nah you saw big runs against the bengals who were blitzing almost every down and where playing pass all the way. we abandoned the run and went for the "Big Plays" like the eagles do. go back to the basics of football. running game plus play action pass or other pass plus defense wins you games. not just airing it out all the time.

I'm not by any means an Arians fan but I do believe Ben can call audibles pretty much anytime he wants. He should by now have the freedom to change the play at the line when the play thats called by Arians doesn't have a chance. Ben is very good but he's not all the way there yet. No where near Peyton or Brady at managing the game or accuracy.

Mendenhall should have had a lot more carries. I just think we need to shorten things up when we do throw. If it's 3rd and ten get 11 or 12. Ben has gotten greedy. The Steelers use to have some of the best screen passes in the game. Ben doesn't know how to disguise them. He usually blows the fake and then throws it way to soon before it even develops.

I'm sure Ben doesn't see Bruce Arians as a terrible play caller as we do

everyone is always bitching about ben holding onto the ball to long and pumping too many times but if it wasnt for his great vision when he moves the superbowl would have gone to the cards. I'm pretty sure i'll keep taking four sacks a game and have him not have his stuff but still stay in the game then get rid of the ball like a little bitch and end drives because he is afraid to go out of the pocket and get hit. Big Ben hangs on to the ball way too long all the time, but the plays that he makes when he does it makes off. Huge plays in both the afc championship and the superbowl, we wouldnt be sixburgh if Ben wasnt a crazy bastard in and outta the pocket.

I wonder how many completions he has for 1st downs after being flushed from the pocket compared to sacks? My guess is there are many more big plays we wouldn't have if he threw it away. Granted some of his sacks are frustrating and make you go crazy, but for me the joy and fun of the big plays he makes out of the pocket far out weigh the bad sacks.

I bitch as much as anyone when I see Ben go down instead of getting rid of the ball, but then I remember that this is his style and he is the QB not me. He does have the rings and is one of the best QBs in the NFL. Coach Tomlin is shaking things up on special teams and the Steelers are as disappointed in themselves as we are about the loss Sunday. I expect things will be much better this week and they will use the game against KC to get ready for the Ratbirds of Baltimore.

I'll take Ben holding the ball everyday of the week. Yes he gets sacked because of it, but remember all the big playes he makes for the same reason.

Had Ben played safe,I don't think we make the playoff's last year. It's the way he plays. The hard hits usually come on a quick sack, the extended play mostly has Ben being pulled to the ground.

Where are the short routes? Everyone seems to be down the field 15-20 yards...
Ben needs to use the check down more

No what we need is to CALM DOWN. It was a bad game. Jeez oh man you act like it's the end of the world. We're still 6-3 and we can still win the division. Bengals injuries could creep up on them and they could drop some games. Chill. Funny, we didn't NEED all of these offensive calls when they were working the past five weeks. I understand, I don't like Arians either and it's been said. This is the way they're doing things and you've just have to deal with it.

That's all I'm saying. Check the ball down when you recognise a clean unblocked blitz. The one at the end of the game with 1st and goal at the eight made it a lot tougher. 2nd and eighteen versus 2nd and 4 or 5. I personally think Mendenhall could have ran it in from the eight. Ben struggles anytime a team steadily blitz's him. He doesn't make the quick reads and that's why he holds on to the ball.

It looked alot like the blitz game the eagles handed us last year.

and we played it just the same... maybe cinci was watching that film last week.

maybe arians has no real counters for that kind of defensive play..

Just run the damn ball. Its way to easy to play defense against you, if we'll throw the ball. They can basically blitz on every single play, and against teams like Bengals with really good DBs that'll kill you because it will take longer for the WRs to get open. and it will almost always result in a sack, or at least a QB hurry..

I love Ben. My only complaint is his greed. He definitely looks way down field too often when he has an open guy for good yards
