The Detroit Tigers announced Thursday they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with first baseman Sean Casey.

Casey, acquired by the Tigers at the trading deadline, batted .432 (16-for-37) with five doubles, two homers and nine RBI in 10 games during the postseason, as the Tigers won the AL pennant and reached their first World Series since 1984. He hit .529 (9-for-17) in five games against the St. Louis Cardinals in the Series, with two doubles, two home runs and five RBI.

He hit .272 with 22 doubles, eight homers and 59 RBI for the Pirates and Tigers in 2006.

"I think that Sean Casey will be a big part of our team in 2007," Tigers Manager Jim Leyland said in a statement announcing the trade. "He is a tremendous teammate and had an outstanding performance in the World Series. You couldn't ask for a better combination of a person and player to retain in the Tigers organization."

Contract terms were not disclosed.

In 10 seasons with the Indians, Reds, Pirates and Tigers, Casey has a .302 average with 1,333 hits, 126 of them homers, and 664 RBI.

I didn't realize he hit so well in the playoffs. I knew he was doing ok but not that ok....lol

Casey is going to be a good signing for the Tigers. Jim Leyland is AL Manager of the year. CONGRATS JIMMY!!!
