View Full Version : Lions Poem (10/11/09)

We went to Detroit to play the Lions in a 1:00 game
Last season being winless was their claim to fame
That sure didnít mean we would win without a doubt
We would play against Culpepper because their rookie was out
The Steelers would punt and the Lions would score
Then a Mendenhall TD put us up by four
The Lions kicked another field goal to cut the lead to one
And thatís where it stood after the first quarter was done
Next came a TD from Rashard or so we thought
But it was nullified by a penalty that we got
No worries because Heath was there on the very next play
And on a pass from Ben we scored anyway
Unfortunately a pick six would happen in this game
On a pass to Wallace who gets most of the blame
The Steelers answered and came right back and scored
On another touchdown this season for Hines Ward
Later came a 47 yard touchdown and Wallace was redeemed
And 15 points ahead we should win or so it seemed
After the recovery by Clark the 4th quarter highlights werenít very bright
And the Lions persisted and continued to fight
On the final drive the Lions tried their hardest to roar back
But the Steelers were the ones who were on the attack
Three sacks in a row - and a Hail Mary 4th down
And then Ike Taylor turned out the lights in Motown
Another 4th quarter meltdown crisis averted
Even with a running game plan too early deserted
Letting our opponents hang around is no longer allowed
And that starts with the Browns in front of a home crowd
