It just shows the confidence Ben has in his line and the leader he has become.

I was glad he sent them the text. He has been their most outspoken advocate and has stood behind them, and even apologizes to them when the OL takes crap, when its sometimes Ben's fault. There is mutual respect and support there and coming this text coming from Ben was the best thing for their working relationship. I am glad that they like each other and I think we will start seeing the OL reach its potential and continue to improve, with the exceptioin of Colon, they are all going to be back next year and with no labor agreement Colon will be an RFA

Very good read, thanks for posting.

This shows why Ben is one of best QB's in league.

Minnesota will be a huge test for this O-line. The Minnesota front 4 are probably the leagues best. They are tough against the run and they apply plenty of heat on QB's against the pass. If they come through that test successfully then that will go a long way towards making me a believer in their progress as a unit. :yesnod:

Did the reporter hear about this text from Colon, Roethlisberger, or another source? It's not clear. Does anyone know?

Props to Ben for bringing his lineman to the wrestling event so everyone could have a good time! The way the lineman have stuck together in the offseason and during camp and now in the regular season, and Ben being right there with them off the field too, it's great to see. HOpefully this really starts to pay off as the season goes on and these guys continue to improve.

Does it matter?

I would probably think a little less of the story if it was Ben or his agent who gave the story to the media.

Ed Bouchette has been covering the Steelers for over 30 years now and gets inside information more then anybody in Pittsburgh that covers the Steelers. So if he prints it and says it you pretty much can take it to the bank that it's legit...

I'm not saying anything about Bouchette's journalistic integrity. The article does not state who the original source was. It says what Colon said, but those could have been responses to prompted questions or his responses to being asked about the texts. I'm not trying to start a fire here...so I'll drop it.

savran and stiegerwald were discussing this before tomlin's presser today. all steigy said was that he heard from a team source that ben sent the text. there's no question that ben sent it. that's the kind of qb he is. the man's got more swagger than Shaft.

Ben and Hines have established a strong leadership role on this team and it works well.
