That penalty on Aaron Smith was a bad call IMO. He didnt even hit him, once he saw the ball was let go and he was coming in too low he let up and stopped himself. Even Brees was surprised at the call !

The refs are always going to call that though so its a lose-lose situation either way.

You didn't see no facial reaction from Cowher. That really made me very sick in my stomach. Normally, he would of been livid, flying spit and pointing that chin and cussing up a storm at em which is what I would of done. I would throw a temper tantrum at them damn zebras calling bogus ****. That was totally uncalled for. Totally mindless bullshit call. I was so livid I was cussing the tv out.

its a bad rule. the refs have to call it if its a rule.

It was a bad call, but I can see why he made it. Aaron really didn't need to hold his leg like that. They're supposed to protect the QB, especially when the defender is down near the quarterback's legs.

HE DIDN'T INTENTIONALLY HIT BREES. What part of that don't they understand? Rule my ***. You call that if its intentional not a baby hit in the leg. Smith isn't a dirty player. Oh hell, I am not going to start a debate in here. It was a bullshit call in my opinion.

It's not about the intent although I do think that was a pathetic call. Even Brees didn't think it would be called.

It was a weak call, and I agree it shouldn't have been made, but I see where the ref was coming from.

Are you saying the refs are smart this season? How many bogus calls have rung out this season? PLENTY OF THEM, I would roughly say about 60% of the calls being bogus.

Thats the new Carson Palmer rule. Which the rule is terrible. You can't even touch the QB's anymore. Might as well put a red shirt on the QB's. That was the worst call I have ever seen.

He held onto his leg to steady himself and Drew so he wouldnt fall down and get a penalty.

Steelersfan

Drew didn't even look for a flag until it was thrown. Then he kinda pointed down at Smith like, "it's on him?"

I am glad someone else agrees about it being the biggest bogus bullshit call yet.

I guess he got called on that because he made his sock fall down. :willybs:

I understand the call I guess, but I think it's bullshit. Smith barely touched him.

I think they called it cause he lifted his foot off the ground I think.

Somebody asked me tonight if I'd be pissed if that were Ben and they didnt call it. I'd honestly say no, because its a ticky tack BS call to begin with.

It's a good rule if the flayer is coming in at the QB's legs faster than a turtle...that wasn't the case yesterday though.

...You can't even touch the QB's anymore...

Unless it's our QB, then opposing teams can even get a helmet to helmet/late hit from front AND back and a guy falling in from the side (with a concussion thrown in for good measure) with no flag from the refs.

I was absolutely pissed at that call. Porter reacted the way I probably would have too(even though I was telling him to calm down). I think this is another one of those penalties that is not consistantly called through out the league (hell it's not even consistant in the game)

I think we were all telling him to chill, the last thing we needed was another penalty on top of that ! I was mad and the team had a right to be mad too but we've got to remember to stay cool or we'll continue to get flagged.

I was not happy about that call but I was screaming at Porter to shut up! I'm suprised he didn't hear me all the way from Cincy!

I'm a little closer in Dayton and he didn't hear me either  with both of us we should have been able to be heard in Pittsburgh
