Very true and I think some of that is because we've been beat up from such a tough Big East schedule. Some of the losses to teams like Bradley though are unexcusable but I think we'll get past the Sweet 16 this year.

this was a great game and deserves a recap

Pitt started off wit the first basket of the game to take a 2-0 lead but from tht point until the halfway point of the second half Buffalo controled the game. they had four leads of 11 points and maintained an 8 point lead for most of the game. at the half UB led 42-35. at the beginnin of the 2nd half they extended their lead back to 10 points and held it there for 10 minutes. but then UB started to wear down. Pitts 9 players were well rested and UBs 7 were gettin tired. UB had an 11 point lead dissolve to 2 off of a Pitt 9-0 run tht couldnt have taken more than 2 1/2 minutes. Pitt held there for another 3 minutes until the 4 minute mark. Levance Fields got the steal on a lazy pass by UB and took the fast break down to give Pitt their second lead of the night. After tht the Panthers jumped back and forth wit UB but eventually pulled ahead by 3. Then wit 16 seconds left and down by 3 UB tried a play tht had backfired just 20 seconds earlier. they ran a double pick to get their big man Idbihi out to the arc to shoot the three. Idbihi missed the wide open shot and another UB man put up the rebound to make it a one point game wit 1.7 ticks on the clock. On the inbound Levance Fields broke open inside his own three point arc. he received the long pass and took it to the hoop for the final points of the game.

sorry it took so long. i was almost done 10 minutes after the conclusion of the game but i left to go eat out wit my family

Blame Aaron Grey for this loss he is just absolutely horrific on the foul line. He has lost games in the past for this Pitt team by not being able to make key foul shots at key points late in games. Just inexcusable for Grey at this point in his career to be missing foul shots like that all the time. Some people might think this guy is NBA material but in the clutch on the line this gay is a total dud. Just a sickening way to lose today especially after Pitt battled all the way back to tie it and take to OT. Both Kendall and Grey in regulation and OT were absolutely putrid on the line and thats why they lost this game.

But to be fair, his ineptness on free throws could have been countered by more production during the game, but everybody refused to pass to him.

Pitt had it in the bag at the 10 minute mark but they let up a little and let WVU make a comeback
there were three strong runs in the game
Pitt started of strong and wit bout 6 minutes left the score was 46-21
then WVU started made a 14-3 run and made it 49-45
and then to reach the final score Pitt came right back on an 11-2 run to finish the game

Troyisabeast_43
02-08-2007, 05:14 PM
They did let up a little bit but the truth be told Pitt pretty much dominated that game last night down in Morgantown. The game was never in doubt of being lost by Pitt. They had the lead the whole game and they were just wearing the Mountaineers out in the paint all night long with Grey. Huge huge game for Sam Young once again. This guy can pop the 3, he can slam them,he is good on the rebounds, and has been very very solid all season long. This team has soo much depth its sick. From Grey,Kendall,Ramon,Fields,Graves,Young,Benjamin,Bi ggs,Cook. There only concern at this point is the foul shooting of Aaron Grey late in tight games. He always seems to miss shots in key situations and he just cannot do that come tourney time against a good team of the Panthers will for sure get bounced out. But overall the way this team is playing now with the defense and shooting the 3-ball Ill be absolutely shocked if there not at worst a number 2 seed in the NCCA Tournament and dont advance to the elite 8. They really are that good. Hopefully WVU can do Pitt a favor and beat UCLA in Morgantown on Saturday increase Pitt's number 1 seed chances and boost their RPI up once more. I dont see Pitt losing another game until at least Georgetown in a few weeks. Their next 3 games against Providence,Louisville, and Washington are at home and then a road game against a bad Seton Hall team, then they play the Hoyas. Pitt should be 25-3 going into that game against Georgetown on the 24th and ranked probably in the top 5 within the next 2 weeks.

Troyisabeast_43
02-10-2007, 04:28 PM
Big game for Pitt tonight they have a shot to move into the top 5 more then likely with a win and maybe jump over UCLA in the polls come Monday since they lost today to West Virginia in Morgantown. That should help Pitt's rpi for sure and should increase their chances even more of getting a number 1 seed in the NCCA tournament. Right now its down to six teams I believe for 4 spots for the Number one seeds Florida,UCLA,Ohio State,Wisconsin,North Carolina and Pitt. Pitt if they continue to take care of business and these other 5 trip up a bit which is very possible they have a very strong chance of getting a number one seed when the brackets come out a month from tomorrow.

Horrible loss for Pitt tonight to Louisville at home. Pitt can pretty much kiss their number 1 or maybe even 2 seed out the window with this loss tonight it was just pathetic. Im getting very sick of Aaron Grey and his pathetic foul shooting. Dixon has got to address this and make him continue to work on this because its going to cost them come tourney time. Pitt now is probably going to have to win at both Georgetown and Marquette and win the big east tourney I think to get a number 2 seed in the NCCA tourney. Just a horrible loss tonight for Pitt. It came at a very bad time when they had a chance to put a stamp on a number 2 seed at the very worst in the tourney. This Pitt team at times just frustrates the hell out of me.

what is the Post Gazette and Tribune review saying about the Pitt-Marquette matchup this evening? We do not get much news about Pitt down here other than what we see on the web sites. The game looks like a trap game for Pitt. They have got a bye in the Big East Tournament. No one is talking about Pitt as a number 1 seed despite an RPI of 6. What do they have to play for this evening?

This looks too much like a typical Pitt team to me. They play pretty good all year but they won't have what it takes to win in the tourney. To play as bad as they did in the first half with a share of the Big East Title on the line just shows it.
No, I didn't watch the game. It just seems like I have seen this type of team too match at Pitt lately. Full of talent but never playing to potential.

Very frustrating tonight to watch Pitt completely go in the tank against Marquette especially with the Big East Title on the line and even more importantly seeding in the NCCA tourney on the line as well. Pitt has gone from having a 2 seed a few weeks ago in the bag to maybe dropping all the way to a 4 or a 5 if they dont win a game here in the Big East Tournament this week. Dixon has got to shuffle this starting lineup around more. He needs to start Ramon and Sam Young over Graves and Kendall. Its ridiculous that the Panthers best shooter Ronald Ramon spends the first 6 minutes or so on the bench. Jamie Dixon has had a lot of success here and won over 100 games as Pitt coach but I just dont know if he is the right guy anymore to get Pitt over the hump. This Pitt team with all the talent it has this year better at least make it past the sweet 16. If it doesnt then Jamie Dixon should take a lot of heat for a total collapse. There will just be no excuse this year for Pitt to at least not make it to the sweet 16.

Yeah it suck we lost I thought we had a real good chance to go deep , but is anyone very angry on the disrespect of the Pitt program this March Madness , Opening Rd vs. Wright St. scheduled and they start turning to different game pretty much first half , same with VCU , if VCU didnt close the score we wouldnt of seen more of that game , and why wasnt Pitt/UCLA the main game again ? Howlund/Dixon 2-3 matchup , I think having so many games on just 1 channel needs to end they need to spread it out so many viewers can see it , sure I can buy the package from Directtv and see the games but I dont have that kind of money to throw when I need games and other things as well . I hope next yr is better for March Madness sake and Nit is waste barely publisised a a couple teams that got snubbed , a couple some know then a ton of teams noone cares about , so many things wrong its not even funny.

I live outside of DC. I was very disappointed. I made myself available for every game Pitt played in the Tournament. I think I got a total of 20 minutes of viewing time. Did the people living in Pittsburgh see more of the games? I am actually thinking about getting Dish network or something so I can get the feeds for the games. I hate having to go to a bar and buy beers at $4.50 a pop just so I can watch Pitt on TV, but that is probably what I will have to do if Pitt makes it to the tournament next year.

jasonbay

I think DirectTV might be your best bet I seen pretty much every game during the regular season( Pretty Close to Pitt I guess about 4 hrs out) and if I wasnt stupid could have bought the package to see all the games from March Madness , does Dish Network even offer that package , and is it me or is way more exciting when a mid-major advances pretty far like last year with George Mason.
