Steelers Sign Linebacker Ron Stanley; Release Brian St. Pierre
PITTSBURGH — The Steelers signed first-year linebacker Ron Stanley to the active roster today, it was announced.
Stanley (6-0, 244) was signed earlier this week to the team's practice squad after being released following training camp this season. Last year, he was in training camp after he was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Michigan State, but was released prior to the opening of the regular season. Stanley was signed back to the Steelers' practice on Jan. 10, 2006.
To make room for Stanley, the Steelers released veteran quarterback Brian St. Pierre. He has spent time on both the team's active roster and the practice squad. St. Pierre, originally drafted by the Steelers in the fifth round (163rd overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft, also spent time on the Baltimore Ravens' 53-man roster and their practice squad.
I know why we picked up another LB, but I would really love to see Chidi back on ST.
