Just watched it. It is pretty much what I expected. He denied the charges, swore to stay focused on football and said the truth will prevail.
You could tell he was flustered though which is to be expected. It seemed like he was holding back some righteous anger if you ask me....:yesnod:

Hell yeah, way to go Ben! Great statement and absolutely denying in every way these ridiculous accusations. He was honest but definitely firm and clearly pissed off that this was filed against him.

He said he'll remain totally focused on the team no matter what.

did he admit to havign sex with her?

and the "OMG Ben would never do this" comments are getting old. How many of you know him personally? And not that he dated a freind, of a friend, of a friends former freshman year roomate type thing either.

Celebrities can put out a different vibe in the public than they would in private (especially if drunk). Did anyone here ever think the Juice would kill two people?

He's innocent until proven guilty, and the chick may be a money-grubbing pirate-hooker, but go easy on the ho until he is proved to be innocent. IF this chick gets one cent, in r out of court...Ben has a public black-eye forever.

He did not state that whether there was any sexual interaction between the two of them (probably for legal reasons).

I understand and respect your argument T. I have dealt with this type of issue from both sides, I've had a friend raped, and I've had a friend unjustly accused of rape. Ben has been known to make poor judgments in the past and there are always crazy women out there that take advantage of a situation for profit. Neither party is guilty, or appears fully innocent at this point. You're right however, that if she does receive any money from this case it will be a public black-eye forever.

I'm pretty sure his legal representation doesn't want him giving any specifics, including whether or not they had sex to the media before trial. I read he did state he had sex, and I would assume his lawyer would not of been to happy if in fact he did. His statement was exactly what I expected. A stern denial with no specifics of their relationship or anything involved in this case. Anything more is nothing but a media nightmare.

Or it could be that all the information we know leads the majority of us to believe she is a gold digger. I can't say never, don't know the guy. He may well be an *******. I know plenty of *******s who don't go around raping woman.Until I see some sort of credible, or even believable information, I call it as I see it. Have you read the formal complaint? My god, the majority of the story and some of the quotes they have from casino employees is absurd. It sounds like her kid helped come up with this story. The only mystery is the hospitalization (sp?), and as looney as she sounds, doesn't hold too much weight to swing my opinion.

wow long document..
I feel really bad for the girl IF this was done to her by Ben wanting to "have sex"

If she has problems caused by someone else who dated raped her and Ben is a rich celebrity who could take care of her financial problems, then to hell with her!!!
If Ben did do this and the co-workers and "friends" conspired like the document states:
Then I believe those people should be fired, jailed and pay thru the nose!!!
If Ben did this, It will permanently change the way I look at pro athletes and who I admire for their physical gifts and abilities.
Ben needs to pay thru the nose and WALLET
I also believe he needs to do some jail time...
IF HE DID THIS....... <<<<<<key words!!!!!!

I am more interested in what the hotel has to say about this. Are they going to release a statement saying she is crazy and nothing is true, or will they pay her to make this go away?

I suspect they are going to pay her to make it go away. Which doesn't really say much either way b/c she could have made it up knowing the hotel would pay her off. Also why she only filed a civil suit.

I've heard people on both sides of the story when it comes to Ben and whether or not he is an ******* in his private life. I've seen some pictures of Ben drunk hanging all over women and I've seen some pictures of Ben wearing a WWJD bracelet. I've heard interviews with Ben where he talks about his faith and I've heard 'stories' of the wild partying side of Ben. As far as all of that goes I'm not really sure anymore exactly what to think of Ben when it comes to his personality. I will not judge him on what others say, good or bad.

I agree with most on here that IF he did do this then he needs to pay. (not just $$$)
If he didn't I pray his name and reputation will not take a hit from this situation.

Well I knew the father of the girl who was Ben's personal assistant and ran errands for him and always came and got him if he was out late in town if he was intoxicated and the guy told me he is not what he appears to be on TV, and that he does drink a lot and go home with different women a lot of the time. Now Im not saying that Ben raped this women or anything. Maybe like other people are saying he had sex with her because she wanted him to have sex with her. If that's the case then this women is a gold digging bitch that should get taken down by Ben. It's just amazing to me how Ben always somehow someway finds a way to create all this drama and chaos right before the season and camp are ready to begin. The guy just cannot keep himself out of the news whether he is in a motorcycle accident or injured or something like this is happening.

Hopefully this whole things calms down within the next week or two in time for when the Steelers go to training camp. The last thing Tomlin wants Im sure is reporters continuing to ask questions and harp on this thing with Ben during training camp. I dont expect much to come of this and I dont think it will effect Ben's play at all once the season starts. He doesnt really need to play well in preseason to begin with. As long as he gets in his reps and plays a quarter in each of the first two games, and plays the whole first half in the 3rd game and doesnt get hurt then that's all of Ben you will need to see for the remainder of the preseason.

I wouldnt worry too much about this affecting anything once the Steelers start the regular season. There is always drama it seems for the Steelers in some form at the beginning of every pre-season and nothing develops from it. Look at the Casey Hampton weight issue the first day of camp last year. Steelers fans all over and some on this board went in panic mode and thought Hampton would not be ready for the season and everything turned out fine. By the time the Steelers kick the season off 7 weeks from tonight on September 10 against the Titans I really believe this whole thing with Ben will be completely and totally forgotten about...

Well, I dont want to think that he could ever do something like that either, but at the same time I have learned (especially from my time in the navy) that people can really surprise you and you cant ever really put something of this nature past a person no matter how seemingly nice that they may be. Here's Ben's actual statement if anyone missed it...

"I did not sexually assault [the woman]. Saturday was the first that I learned of her accusations.

"Her false and vicious allegations are an attack on my family and on me. I would never, ever force myself on a woman. I'm going to fight to protect my family and my reputation.

"I'm not going to discuss my private life or this civil case in the media. I'll respond to her outrageous allegations in the appropriate forum.

"I have an obligation to our fans, to my teammates, to my coaches and everyone in the organization to remain focused on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I will do that.

"The allegations against me are reckless and false. As much as I'd like to answer everyone's questions, I'm going to respect the legal process, and I am confident that the truth will prevail. Thank you."

Coworker: McNulty didn't seem 'upset'
Comment Email Print Share
ESPN.com news services

RENO, Nev. -- A former coworker of Andrea McNulty, who has filed a civil suit against Ben Roethlisberger for alleged sexual assault, said the woman bragged about having been with the Steelers quarterback.

In an affidavit filed Friday, former Harrah's employee Angela Antonetti said that Andrea McNulty never seemed "upset, stressed out or nervous" about what happened.

Later, Antonetti said McNulty told her she thought she might be pregnant by Roethlisberger and talked about going to Pittsburgh to try to "run into" him.

The lawyer for McNulty has given Roethlisberger more time to respond to the lawsuit.

Reno attorney Cal Dunlap said Roethlisberger's attorneys have until Aug. 21 to file their response.

McNulty worked as an executive VIP casino host at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. She said the quarterback lured her to his hotel room under false pretenses and raped her during a celebrity golf tournament last summer. She's seeking a minimum of $490,000 plus punitive damages.

The suit also names hotel officials as defendants.

On Friday, lawyers for two other defendants filed motions to move the case from Reno 50 miles south to Minden in Douglas County. They also filed a motion to challenge the judge randomly assigned to the case.
