I'm thinking about going to game 5 in Pittsburgh..and I'm deciding whether to buy tickets or sit outside..but I heard that people started showing up at the big screen at 10 AM to watch the Monday game..does anybody know anything?

you heard correct. if you're willing to suck it up for the day and watch it on the big screen, it'd be worth it.
