I really wanna know who were gonna sign as our # 3....I was hoping for a veteren. I thought Joey Galloway would have been a good one year fit.....How about Ronald Curry? Any suggestions or inside information?:helmet:

I dont think sweed is ready....Neither do the Steelers.

I'm pretty sure Sweed will be our #3 maybe even #2 depending on his development and growth this off season. Not sure whats left on the FA marhet. Is Holt been snagged up yet because we gould have a go with him if he doesn't ask for bitch diva money....

Sweed at # 2!!!!! Wow....What team have you been watching. Holt will want way to much money...

Limas Sweed is not going to be 2 or 3 this year....

Limas Sweed is not going to be 2 or 3 this year.... I think sweed has a extremely good chance of being #1, 2 or 3. He could win the #2 spot in beating out Ward or Holmes and could land at #1 due to injury. You never know...Dont let thoughs hands of Stone fool ya. He's got an innate gift that the others dont....should I tell you what it is?

K Train
03-17-2009, 05:21 PM
its not even hands of stones, hes just over thinking it....getting this promotion was huge for him and his confidence. he never had to run real routes in college so he would focus on it to much, watch him just go out there and play without over thinking, he will dominate the competiton

Thats crazy talk.....Sweed has been a bust thus far....Some guys can't adjust to the speed of the NFL. There will be no chance for sweed to be a starting wide out this year or even next year. Dont you guys listen to Satellite Radio....Sweed just didnt pan out, thats why he was out 4 instead of 3 this past year.

Sweed will easily be #3..he's shown enough flashes this past year and with another off season program under his belt he'll be fine. Holmes didn't exactly lite it up his 1st year either..it wasn't until he caught that game winning TD the last game of the season to knock Cincy out of the playoffs that he really broke out.Whoever we get..and we'll grab someone when all the smoke of free agency clears, will be a non-big name guy that is a solid depth addition..no more.

oh ****, we dont listen to pat kirwin on satellite radio....i didnt realize he had this sweet intel that we regular people dont have.

he was a ****ing rookie, nate had 3 years of experience....WR is very hard to play as a rookie especially on a team with a 1, 2, 3 wr that are all very solid. he was a man among boys in college, he didnt have to do much to dominate, now hes gonna be adjusted. sweed has not been a bust, you cant call him a bust yet. every rookie from that class is a bust if sweed is. one game of actual playing time at the end of the season when ward got hurt doesnt make him a bust....he had a solid game too. i bet you are one of the ones who called timmons a bust until he proved he could ball last season. mendenhall must be a bust too. he didnt play at all during 08, maybe like 15 snaps during mop up duty at the end of the games

eddie royal and desean jackson were thrown in there as rookies, their teams needed them to step in and play immediately. They ran simple, short routes and used their speed after the catch. i promise you that if we needed sweed and threw him in there, the game reps would have made all the difference.

Dude let it go... if we bring in a wr it will be, like everyone but you knows, for depth BEHIND Sweed. Yeah ill be the first to say, he looked like **** last year. But he was a very hard worker on and off the field all year long. Unlike say a Bruce Davis. For you to say the steelers don't like him is a bunch of bullshit. You dont know that i dont care what radio you heard it on.

Burress had more game time than sweed and put up very similar AVG's as sweed. And had as many bonehead plays... he didnt turn out too bad now did he (on the field atleast) Give the dude a chance and i think you'll be a fan...

think about nate, undrafted out of tiffin, made the active squad during the playoffs and the next year he shares 3/4th duties and then cements himself as #3 the past 2 years....thats from the most unpolished WR ive ever seen, sweed is sooooooo much more talented than nate will ever be and i think nate played very well for us. nate had some lapses in concentration and still does, but we took a raw WR and turned him into something, the steelers made nate what he is and now hes banking in tennessee. sweed is going to do big things this year, he has all the tools and the coaching to do so.

Did I ever say the Steelers were ever looking for anything else besides depth???? I said they were going to sign a wide out cause Sweed isnt ready.....You can say all you want about Nate Washington, the fact is his career will dwindle in Tenessee. He's not a true #1 wide out......never will be. Please dont insult my football knowledge by telling me what college Nate Washington went to. The bad thing about winning the Super Bowl is more dumb asses pop up and join the site...lol Calling Sweed a bust after his rookie season is stupid.....Rookie WR's usually struggle....Yes yes I know Jackson and Royal last year...Of course Randy Moss his rookie year......But most rookie WR's struggle....Somebody mentioned Burress already....His numbers his rookie year were 22 catches and 0 TD's........Plaxico might have never lived up to his potential and has become a complete dumbass in New York....But he still became a very good NFL WR........Way to early to give up on Limas Sweed and the Steelers probably will bring in a vet WR but only for depth purposes.....

[QUOTE=K Train;286371]think about nate, undrafted out of tiffin, made the active squad during the playoffs and the next year he shares 3/4th duties and then cements himself as #3 the past 2 years....thats from the most unpolished WR ive ever seen, sweed is sooooooo much more talented than nate will ever be and i think nate played very well for us. nate had some lapses in concentration and still does, but we took a raw WR and turned him into something, the steelers made nate what he is and now hes banking in tennessee. sweed is going to do big things this year, he has all the tools and the coaching to do so.[/QUOTe

Everyone else can agree with the little engine that could all you want.....I'm not gonna cry myself to sleep. In Vino Veritas.......

**** you dude, i didnt insult your intelligence by telling you nate went to tiffin, ill insult your intelligence by telling you that your a ****ing idiot. nate wasnt brought into tennessee to be added into their giant group of #2 wrs, no one ****ing said he was randy moss. anyone the steelers bring in whether it be though the draft or some bum *** old dude that will play the charlie batch role cause hes to old to run doesnt matter cause all it is gonna be is depth, and the depth is going to fall behind sweed...the number 3 receiver.

Hey I see Amani Toomer on that list. he's 34, in 07 he had 59 catches for 760 yds....In 08 he had 48 catches for 580 yds. We should pick him up man, he wouldnt be a bad idea for our #4 guy.

PS: Arguing w/ KTrain about wrs is like pissing in the wind!!!!

I see a few guys on there that could step into number 4 or 3 if Sweed gets benched. They may be old but good character guys.

Bobby Engram, Laveranues Coles, Amani Toomer, Joe Jurevicius.

Bobby signed with the Chiefs and Coles is now a Bengal. Adding a veteran free agent such as D. Jax is a possibility, but I expect the Steelers to pull the trigger and draft a WR in rounds 3 or 4. WR value exists in rounds 3 and 4 where talented prospects such as Mohamed Massaquoi, Brandon Gibson, Mike Wallace, Kenny McKinley, and Jarett Dillard can be drafted to fill Steelers needs. Since Limas Sweed is now only one injury away from being a starter, and due to the lack of talented depth for the 4th WR spot, the front office needs to address this area before the start of the 2009 season.

Toomer is 34, the man can still play. I liked what the guy did with the Giants and with Ward, Holmes & Sweed in there too, it could work. Just depends if he'd be willing to be a 4 guy or even split reps with Sweed.

Sweed is going to be our # 3 Wr. So anyone thinking anything else is dillusional. Sweed will make a jump from his rookie season. Tomlin will have him ready to play.

The big thing we need to be concerned about is getting a late round WR to handle the kickoff/punt return duties and free Holmes from those jobs.

What are you guys talking about? As far as I know, the Steelers aren't signing anymore free agents. We signed Shaun McDonald as a backup plan in case Sweed brings back his butterfingers from last season. At the start of the season, you're going to have Holmes, Ward, Sweed, McDonald, and Wallace as the 5 receivers to make the team.
