Who says you can't beat a team 3 times in one year? I didn't, and I'm pretty sure the team wearing Black and Gold proved it false on SUnday. And just in case you just woke up from a coma and are renewing your SteelerAddicts.com memebership, I'm of course referring to the Steelers beating the Baltimore Ravens sunday afternoon to catipult themselves into Super Bowl. How does that feel huh?
Well as I predicted the Steelers were victorious, maybe no by the same score I had orginally stated but you can hardly blame me for piss pour officiating. The first pass interference call that put the Ravens on our goal line? Give me a break huh? Stevei Wonder saw there was no interference there, by the way STEVIE IS BLIND! And the Santonio would be touchdown? He displayed the very definition of a completed pass, took two steps, made a football move diving across the goal line and broke the plane. And in case you don't know football once that ball breaks that plain, and AFTER the two steps and dive, the fact it popped out is irrelevant, the NFL needs some serious work on it's officiating crews, that call could have cost us a ticket to Tampa.
That my friend is my only complaint about this game which I was lucky enough to have attended. You couldn't ask for more from your quarterback. Ben kept his eyes forward and made great decisions all day long. No picks and a touchdown pass. Should have been 3 touchdown passes but Willie Parkers is a running back and Limas Sweed is a rookie. Let that sink in folks, a rookie. He's going to drop passes. It didn't cost us the game, let it go. "There's not one wide receiver playing this game who can say they never dropped a pass," John Madden. And to me he made up for it with a crushing block contributing to a first down and by hanging onto the ball on a key 4th qaurter drive and 3 and 8.
Willie Parker.....did what he had to do. Yes he fumbled, and yes he dropped a gift from the football Gods but Willie did his job. No, he didn't bust off a 30 yard run, I think he longest run may have been 9 yards. 28 carries for 52 yards I believe it was but hey, those were a hard 58 yards he earned and against the second best front 7 in the NFL. And let's all give a round of applause to Bruce Arians huh? Commitment to the run my friends, the balls on that guy huh? Keeps the Ravens honest. Lets Ben utilize the play action and protects him well. The play calling along with the execution kept drives alive. And those drives kept the offense on the field and gave the defense a rest.
And oh that defense. What a game! Everyone showed up, not one weak link in this chain. And if I'm a wideout for Arizona I'm praying I don't get sent across the middle. Blitzes and sacks, tipped balls and interceptions. If James Harrison is pretty much tackled on the way to Falcco all those times, he probably breaks and NFL record for most sacks in one game. I'm pretty sure when the Steelers put together their weekly complaint tape to the NFL officiating board over the next two weeks those holds will be properly addressed and corrected by Arizona. I almost feel sorry for Kurt Warner. And I'm pretty sure I called that defensive pick 6 in the 4th to ice it didn't I? It's amazing and something special when you can honestly look at an entire game and not pick out one negative thing to say about a starting defensive unit.
And now, Big Ben, the defense and this entire Band of Brothers are playing in one more game this year. Hey Tomlin, how do you feel about taking a team to the Super Bowl in only your second year as a head coach? ""We are excited about being in the Super Bowl. We look forward to getting down there and pursuing our ultimate goals." The man's a poet.
