Four former Steelers are among 112 preliminary nominees for the 2006 class of inductees to the Pro Football Hall. The list of nominees was released today.
The four Steelers are safety Donnie Shell from the Steelers of the 1970s and 80s and three teammates from more recent Steelers teams -- center Dermontti Dawson, linebacker Kevin Greene and safety Carnell Lake.

Former Steelers head coach Buddy Parker and scout Bill Nunn also are nominated.

:woot: It's been a while since a Steeler was inducted!!! I think it's about time!! :tt02:

Donnie Shell should be in. I agree with Dowson, Greene, and Safety Carnell Lake. I was a big Lake fan. He and Polamalu would of been one hell of a team together. Greene is a big one that I truly enjoyed watching with Lloyd.

Its a crime that Donnie Shell and L.C. Greenwood are not in the Hall of Fame yet. I think the voters think there are enough players from the Steel Curtain teams alreay in. But that doesn't make it right that both Shell and Greenwood keep getting passed by.

I think Dirt Dawson should be a hall of famer. One of the greatest centers ever.

Greenwood was a finalist last year so one would think his chances of getting in this year are pretty good! :bigthumb:

Greenwood isn't on the nom list? What the hell? I think he has to be on the senior list to make it now. I think that is a crock of ****.

I hope Shell gets in, he was a big part of our success in the 70's. I wonder what team Kevin Greene would go in as. Im thinking probably the Rams but hopefully a Steeler instead. Lake and Dawson were just outstanding. Dirt was the best center in the league bar none for years, nobody could pull and block like he could.

IMHO,out of that list I'd say only DIRT makes it. Shell suffers from the too many STEELERS symptom. Green I'd be surprised if he went in as a STEELER. Lake, I don't know not yet anyhow.

Shell, Dawson and Lake all deserve to be in. But if I were a betting man (which I can be at times....lol) I'd say Dawson gets in easily. Not so sure on the others.

Dawson's career for as awesome as it was, was cut too short with that bad hamstring injury he had. It's too bad cuz he'd still be playing today I'd bet.
