Its not really a big deal for the season but its a big accomplishment for ben, one more win this year and he passes marino, brady and graham for most wins in first 5 seasons.

48 - Otto Graham (1950-54)
48 - Dan Marino (1983 - 1987)
48 - Tom Brady (2000-2004)
48 - Ben Roethlisberger (2004-2008)*
46 - John Elway (1983-1987)

Since 1950.*

Actually Ben is at 47 counting tonights win. He needs 2 more to lead that list. I believe we're in the playoffs with 2 more wins and win the division with 3 wins. With the strength of our schedule in the last 5 games I would be happy going 3-2 in the last 5. :yesnod:

He'll have that record in no time for sure ! For all his struggles and as much as he drives us nuts at times the guy is the face of this franchise and we'll go as far as he can take us plain and simple. His accomplishments are as note worthy as any QB in history at this point in his career.

That adds up to 47.......Batch won two games in 05 and 1 in 06 as a starter.....Maddox won two games in 04......

Ben deserves to lead that list..he's a playmaker plain and simple. It was nice to see Ward's numbers against the HOF's Swann and Stallworth...he's crushed those numbers.

Steelers ran the ball 60 percent of the time in the 70s.......Plus Swann and Stall worth had each other to take catches away from each other.....No surprise that Ward has better numbers....

Don't know if you are old enough to have watched those old guys play but they are responsible for 4 out of the 5 Lombardi's sitting in the Steelers trophy case. They were awesome in their day when the whole league was mostly a running league.

I'm not taking anything away from those guys...i'm aware of what they did for the Steelers of the 70's. Just tired of Ward not ever getting any love from the NFL, they never mention him with the big name recievers in this league.

:tt02: I hate to compare what Ward has done compared to Swann and Stallworth. I just hope the young people study the history to respect the argument that can never be won.

In case you haven't noticed, the Steelers and their players never get the love. But we Steeler fans know how much more valuable a player like Hines Ward is over someone like TO or Ocho El Stinko. Hines always comes up with the big catches or blocks when we really need them. No doubt he is a critical part of this team and should be a HOF imo.

Wow.....that is really awesome. It would be really cool if those two wins came against the Pats and the Cowboys.

It would be better to win the next 5 games and crush the record. Smashing it out of the park.

As far as the WR for the Steelers all time I like Hines. True we ran alot more back in the 70's, but the last 2 rings were won through the air. and last time I checked the Steelers have been running the ball more than any other team in the league since 1970, and I believe we are so far ahead of the second closet team in yards its restared. I think its like 5-15,000 yards. I cant remember. Someone can look it up.
Hines was always the #2 WR for a long time, and fought his way in to the #1 spot. He would fit better in the 70's, then Swann or Stallworth would today. On this team anyways. Hines is a big reason for our run success. No one blocks like him, and under Cowher we didn't throw that much. So I take Hines...This is of course...IMO
