We saw what happened last year without Ryan in there and as soon as he left today with a forearm injury the Giants went to work in the passing game. Clark is the unsung hero of this defense and Carter just is not good enough to fill in adequately and it showed again today. Lebeau didn't elaborate more than a forearm injury because they didn't know at the time but he didn't think it was broken or anything so we'll have to see what happens.

He was having a helluva game right up until he left; all over the field making plays for us that stopped the Giants time and time again.

Injuries are killing us right now. At least they are in the middle of the season this time unlike last season.

Yeah Ike went out for a few plays but came back in. He was on Burress all day long and made him a non factor for the most part.

This team is so decimated with injuries and then Holmes being out too that our depth is being severely tested and time will tell how long they will be able to hold out and continue making plays. Anthony Smith has barely played this year and Carter is just average at best so our options at Safety are severely limited.

The three huge plays in this game late in the 4th quarter were all a result of backup players being in there at that time and not being able to get the job done. Gay was covering Toomer on that 4th and 6 catch he had at the 2, Carter instead of Ryan Clark was on Steve Smith on the big 3rd and 7 conversion and the Giants TD drive after the safety, and of course the botched long snap by James Harrison when it should have been Greg Warren who is now out for the year with a torn ACL. The bottom line today is the injuries finally caught up to the Steelers a lot of key points in this game and it just became too much to overcome all at once.

Smith has been in Tomlin's dog house, who knows how much he's going to play this year unless injuries dictate otherwise.

On a positive note it looks like he will play vs the Redskins. (http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribunereview/sports/s_595370.html)

True but you cant keep having guys dropping like flies like the Steelers have been doing here over the last few weeks. The injuries caught up to the Steelers yesterday especially late in the game and I dont care what Tomlin says about the standard of expectations not changing when guys are out and blah blah blah it's a bunch of crap. If Ike or McFadden are in there on that 4th and 6 play covering Amani Toomer instead of William Gay that catch does not happen. While William Gay has done a decent job, he is still not at the level of Ike or McFadden when it comes to covering top notch NFL receivers yet. We have seen McFadden and Taylor make great plays enough in coverage on throws like that that had they been in there that play for certain does not get converted. And of course if Greg Warren doesnt get hurt the ball is snapped clean and the punt gets off with the Giants still down by 2 at 14-12 and maybe the defense holds them on the next possesion and the Steelers end up winning. I know Tomlin doesnt wanna make excuses and that is fine but For Tomlin to sit there and say the injuries had nothing to do with the loss yesterday is just plain idiotic and insulting the fans intelligence.

A team can only take so much abuse in the injury dept...granted you can't use that an excuse but it certainly didn't help matters any for us. We've been losing people all year long and in an area where we can least afford any more injuries we lost Clark for the 2nd half and Taylor for a series. Townsend does fine filling in for McFadden but Safety we are just so thin it's not even funny.

The standard of expectation may be as high, and it should be, but these backups sooner or later are going to get beat and they did yesterday at the wrong times. The pass rush did not even get to Eli and make his jersey alittle dirty much less get a sack. If we don't get healthy and get our **** together picking up the blitz you can kiss any thoughts of the post season goodbye.

Good thing he can play, the Redskins passing game has been pretty good this year.

This is a big game for Ryan, I hope he is able to go. Im sure he still has a lot of friends in Washington and he'd like nothing better than to beat his old teammates. I'd personally like to see lay out Randel El with a wicked hit when he comes across the middle..LOL

Very true.....injuries are a factor in any game and in any sport.

We also miss McFadden. Townsend is ok, but has lost a step.

Probably Carter, but Tomlin is giving Smith a chance to earn it if he practices well this week.
