I am glad to see Gary Russell come back. Maybe he will actually get to carry the ball some too. Doug Legursky brought up to the practice squad, so they must like his skills. He is just on the outer edge of the radar screen. Another lineman goes down and we may see him called up.

Will 33 be in the line up?

I do not know if he will be active for this weeks game. But I do know that they signed Russell and Davenport both to 1 year deals. I can't imagine them both not being active for this weeks game considering how thin we are at the postition. :yesnod:

I always liked Gary Russell and the way he ran the ball when he got the chance in the preseason. I know that Najeh Davenport is probably gonna get the action instead of Russell, but maybe I will be wrong..

I too like Russel and hope he can take advantage of any shot he's given.
I'd like to see a little more out of Mewelde to see what he can do.
He stepped up big time for us when we needed him towards the end of the Ratbird game.

I think Mewelde and Russell are getting big shots right now, and have a chance to make something of it. However Najeh looks to get most of the carries once he gets it going.

Im happy to see Russel back on the team, it sucked when they cut him just before the season but hopefully he'll be able to get some carries in. He should get some experience this week unless they decide to call up Legursky from the PS for depth on the DL. These jags games are physical too so who knows who they'll dress but you gotta think Moore, Davenport and Russel will all suit up and McHugh will play a lot of FB.

We didn't see McHugh much at FB Monday, but he looked good on the one play I remember him back there. Nice leadblock on about a 10yd Mendy gain.

ive heard alot about gary since he came out of college.. can he be a steelers premier running back? or just another richard huntley? People hype him up but i havent seen much.. am i missing something? He's not a tall runner nor a load like bettis.. he didnt look fast vs. the jags last season or during the preseason.. someone give me the 411.. lol

Russel is still raw and needs experience to get better but he did really well in camp this year and played well in preseason. He's got the talent plus he runs hard and tough which is always a good thing. There's no way to tell how good he's going to be but I like his upside.
