Steelers | Simmons could miss Week 3 game
Fri, 19 Sep 2008 21:00:09 -0700

Ray Fittipaldo, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers (http://www.kffl.com/team/30/nfl) OG Kendall Simmons (http://www.kffl.com/player/5820/nfl) could miss the team's Week 3 game. His wife, Celesta, is due to give birth to the couple's third child Sept. 29. However, she has been a week or two early with the couple's previous two children. Simmons said he will return to Pittsburgh if Celesta goes into labor this weekend and is prepared to miss the game.

I know the birth of your child is a once in a lifetime experience so you don't want to miss it so who can blame him but damn this would put us in an awful spot missing him.

It would put us in a tight spot for sure, but it's his baby and each one is a miracle and if I were his wife I would definetly want him there. We should all hope and pray that she doesn't go into labor until sunday night.

Exactly:yellowthumb::tt02:That's like asking one of yaw 2 not leave ur job when ur child is being born, rather it;s ur 3rd or 10 th child, no way i would stay at work an miss an one in an lifetime experience.

Im not necessarily against Stapleton getting playing time with the starters, I'd just prefer it come against a team with a less fierce defense than Philly. We need continuity with our 5 starters as much as possible. I can't say I would blame him for wanting to be there for the birth of his child, who could...I'd just hate to see an inexperienced player thrust in to starting duty in such a big game.

I think I'll say a prayer that that the baby decides to take alittle nap till tomorrow morning

I don't doubt that Stapleton can do a good job but playing against a blitzing D like the eagles have is no time to break ina rookie unless you have too IMO.
