Here's some guys I hope fall to us in the 3rd / 4th:

OT Anthony Collins, DE Dre Moore, OG McGlynn, OLB Cliff Avril, DE Langford, CB King, CB Godfrey, CB Smith, CB Branch, CB Jackson, LB Conner, DT Harrison, OG Zuttah, OG Cousins, OG Shuening, LB Wheeler

Wow, making this list makes me realize just how well set up we are in this draft. After Mendenhall and Sweed, we could end up with 2 of the players above in rounds 3 and 4!
The Steelers really are first day winners or at least top 3 this year.

But this draft was very deep and most teams really improved on the virtue of that.

In relation tot he Steelers, their improvement is drastic compared to most. The Steelers have a great #1 quality and compliment RB, while also attaining a #1 quality WR.

The team was stacked already, to begin with, but these two amazing draft day fallings are game changing

Any of those guys would be prime for us tomorrow in the 3rd and 4th round.

Dre Moore Maryland DE
Kendall Langford - DE
Jeremy Zuttah Rutgers G

That's my short list for tomorrow in the 3rd, any one of those 3 and I'd be super happy with our top 3 round picks overall.

They knew that Tomlin really liked Groves, and pass rushers in general so as funny as that may sound now I wouldn't put it past them to try and trade up if they think either us or somebody else wants him before they pick.

NFLN was saying that a lot of teams dropped Groves off their boards because of character issues and that's why he fell so far?

i think it was the heart surgery, but he was 2 minutes away from being woodley 2.0

Do the Jags even have any picks left after trading up in both rounds?

probably not since it was a monumental leap from 26 to 8

1 D-lineman (Kendall Langford, Dre Moore)
1 O-lineman (Oneil Cousins, Carl Nicks)
1 S (Reggie Smith, DaJuan Morgan)
1 CB (Justin King, Charles Godfrey)

Hopefully ALL 6 draft picks make the 45 man roster and make some level of contribution in '08'

I hope the Steeler coaching staff keep the BEST 45 players and throw the politics of seniority and salary out the window!

That's where Tomlin will put his stamp on this team. It's always been about seniority and the veterans pretty much making the roster no matter what and not having any real competition to speak of. Now we've got some real potential battles that we can watch this offseason and during camp and may the best man win.

Yea that definitely was no coincidence that the Jags traded up right before the Steelers pick at 53 and took Groves seeing that the Steelers were talking about taking DE's for the draft and Groves was still there. I was very excited to see that Sweed was still there at 53 and I knew seeing that he was the best available player at the time they were not going to pass him up. By drafting guys like Mendenhall and Sweed it really gives our offense a chance to score points with the teams were going to need to beat such as Indy and the Pats.

It also shows me that Tomlin really is out to get the best players available to help our team. He's not so hell bent on a particular player or position that he has to draft someone there regardless of the talent level that may not be available anymore. He knows that Mendenhall and Sweed can be difference makers and the more weapons you have the more unpredictable you can be on offense. You can't double cover everybody and now with a bigger back and another deep threat our offense has the potential to be down right deadly!

That's assuming our OL gets squared away.. :crossfingers:

I would bet money Ben Roethlisberger called both guys and welcomed them to the team as well as expressed his excitement about adding such explosive offensive weapons to an already potent offense. :yesnod:

Thats the kind of guy he is.
