PITTSBURGH (AP)óWide receiver Nate Washington (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/7492/;_ylt=AqP8iIxt..RQLbwSIMkhBpUdsLYF), a restricted free agent, accepted his tender offer from the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/pit/;_ylt=Al_2_LGtLJHQaIaPnOJAnPUdsLYF) on Wednesday and will make $1,417,000 this season.
Washington caught 29 passes for a 15.5 yard per catch average and five touchdowns last season as a backup. That's alot of ducks for just 1 year.:yesnod:

yeah that's not much to secure him for 1 year...the coaches really think he's ready to take the next step so don't be surprised to see him lock him up long term before camp starts.

Sweet!!! Like Psycho said, he started coming on at th end of the season, hopefully thats a sign that this year he will take it to a higher level then we're used to. Good deal :yellowthumb:

:plus1: He was already better than Cedric "the punisher" Perhaps this will also give Dallas Baker an opportunity. I have already written off Willie Reid as training camp fodder. Mawelde Moore made Reid expendable.

Nate has a "hands" problem which is why the Steelers rejected the notion of inking him to a longer term deal. Something tells me this is their way of telling him in no uncertain terms, "You have one year to show us why we should keep you"

It really sux that Reid just hasn't worked out, we all had high hopes for him to come in and make an impact in the return game but between the injuries and the poor play his number is probably up as you mentioned.

I always like Nate. I would still like him to be the #4 though.

lol...how much are u guys payin LeCharles Bentley not to play?

Great sign IMO, I have always liked Nate, since I played with him in the NAIA. He has all of the tools, he just needs to start holding on to the not so easy ones.

That's the key right there, he seems to have so much talent plus he's the fastest guy on the team. He just seems to lose focus on the "easier" plays like you mentioned. He really showed some positive signs last year but now the team is going to be expecting a lot more out of him, it's make or break for Nate. If he just has another year like in the past they won't bring him back next year.

Yeah, he will be better on the "easy" plays this year. Tenure is the only way to accomplish that. Worth every penney.:2cents:
