Greatest catcher in franchise history? That position is not as easy for some Pirates fans to choose as, say, shortstop, where Honus Wagner might have been the best in baseball history. But Chuck Tanner had an easy time with this one. He reached across to the big Panamanian seated next to him by one of Pirate City's four fields yesterday, placed his hand on his shoulder and said, "Manny Sanguillen is the best." Sanguillen just kept smiling. -- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Always did like Manny. Don't know if he was our best, but he will always be my favorite catcher from the Bucs.

Only two I can think of that is in the discussion with Manny is Tony Pena or Smokey Burgess.....Burgess only spent 5-6 seasons with the Buccos though....But he was in the same trade that brought him and Harvey Haddix to Pittsburgh and both were big contributors to that 1960 World Series team....
