Here's an old Steeler popping up in the news! Maybe the Steelers should have tried to get him back to return some punts ;)

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- The New England Patriots re-signed cornerback Hank Poteat on Wednesday after placing Randall Gay on the injured reserve list with a hamstring injury.

An undrafted free agent, Gay became a starter as a rookie in 2004.

Last season, Poteat was signed by the Patriots after injuries decimated the secondary. He played in 10 regular-season and two playoff games, recording 24 tackles and 20 solo tackles.

The 28-year-old Poteat first joined the Patriots in January 2005 and, despite having not played that season, appeared in three playoff games, including the Super Bowl victory over Philadelphia.

Entering his sixth NFL season, Poteat's played in 52 career regular-season games and seven playoff games, including action with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I just saw this and was about to post it up before you beat me to it

Hank is a local boy from my area, his dad is/was a superintendent for the city school district. Everytime he came back home and hit the local clubs he was mobbed by fans.

I thought Poteat didn't do too bad as a Steelers, but I hope he crashes as a Patriots.

I'm a big Hank Poteat fan. If I could find a Poteat jersey (Steelers of course), I'd buy it. I love how in Madden 2001 (or it might be 02) for N64, the fans chant a generic "Lets go team!", but it sounds like they're chanting "Hank Poteat!"
