Ben Roethlisberger was in Phoenix this week at the sight of Super Bowl XLII to take part in a Pro Bowl press conference, but he couldn’t help but talk about wanting to return to the big game.

Roethlisberger led the Steelers to a win in Super Bowl XL and thinks that the team has the talent to get back.

"I think we have a lot of the tools, and I think we have a lot of the players that are essential for us next year," said Roethlisberger. "I think there are some things that we all need to work on, myself included, and I think we'll be just fine because we have each other, and everybody we have in that room is talented and can get it done."

Roethlisberger was asked about Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during the press conference and answered by referencing an interview he did last this season with Steelers Digest.

"Somebody asked me this year, 'If you could be a Super Hero, which one would you be?'" said Roethlisberger. "I said, 'Tom Brady.'"

Roethlisberger will be joined at the Pro Bowl by teammates guard Alan Faneca and linebacker James Harrison. Running back Willie Parker and safety Troy Polamalu will both miss the game because of injuries.

While Roethlisberger won’t be staying in Phoenix for the Super Bowl, he will be a part of the hype as he is featured in an ad for the new season of “American Idol” that will air during the telecast.

Roethlisberger spent about eight hours on the set but didn’t want to reveal too many details about the shoot.

“It ties in football and American Idol so I will leave it at that,” said Roethlisberger.

One of the scenes had Roethlisberger as a player in the locker room daydreaming about being a contestant on “American Idol” while the coach of the team was delivering a pep talk.

“They did some different stuff,” he said. “You never know how it is going to end up turning out. I am in the locker room for a part of it. I am in the American Idol crowd for a part of it. It’s a little bit of jumping around so we’ll see how they kind of tie it together.”

The Mel Blount Youth Home will hold its 10th Annual All-Star Celebrity Roast on Friday, April 4 at the Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel.

The year’s roast will honor former Steelers strong safety Donnie Shell.

...No doubt Tee, plus I'm sure Ben would like to improve on his shiatty performance in the Super Bowl...lol He was great in the three play-off games before the Super Bowl but he was terrible in the big game.....We won so it doesn't matter but Ben does have pride so he is itching to have a huge game next time he makes it to the Super Bowl......

Dude I hope he wants to get back 4-5 more times...lol

You know he's got that in the back of his mind because he's a perfectionist with his craft, knowing that yeah we won and he made some big plays for us but overall he did not play well and would love to avenge that and really feel like he helped us in the big dance more than he did in XL.

Sure, Ben had the lowest passer rating of a winning SB QB ever, along with an error of Buckneresque magnitude.

But....look at the plays he DID make.
....he picked up a 3rd & 28, leading to the Steelers TD.
....he got the ball into the EZ himself for said TD
....he made 2 other big runs on 3rd down in 4Q, the first directly preceding the final TD, and the second allowing Steelers to run the clock down to 2 minutes....it was the final nail in the coffin
...and, one other that doesn't show up in the stat sheet, made the block allowing the El to Ward TD

Ben was clearly not his best, had one huge gaffe, but made the plays to win.

I watched the game so you don't need to bring up the plays he made in the game... I remember them well thank you to...lol Plus Ward dropped a TD pass from Ben in the end zone....But still Ben played terrible.....I wasn't knocking Ben just stating a fact he stunk in the Super Bowl.....

God I love when people try to give me a history lesson in Steelers football....Don't need any help so don't waste my time...lol

Given your assessment of Ben's "******" performance, and that he was "terrible," I think a history lesson might be in order.

How can you say he played well?lol Yea he made some plays but overall he didn't play well at all..lol I'm knocking him its just fact....plus he was in his second year in the NFL so I understand he wasn't ready for the Super Bowl....I have said many times his play in the three play-off games before the Super Bowl were huge in the Steelers even making the Super Bowl in the first place...Especially in the AFC title game vs the Broncos were Ben was 21/29 for 275 yards with two TD passes with no INTs and ran for a TD.....

Plus who the **** are you anyway....I would tear you a new ******* in Steelers history and NFL history in general...**** off simpleton....

If is wasn't for Randle El and Faneca (key block on Willie's run) I think Roethlisberger may have lost us the game. He was absolutely dreadful.

Wow. I can't believe Ben would want to be a cheater! And to top that off, a cheater who cheated him (2004-2005 AFC Championship Game, 15-1 Season).
