Special Teams coach Bob Ligashesky will be fired. There's no if's and but's about it. One scenario to keep an eye on is Dick Lebeau. There are some rumors going around that Lebeau might retire and Mike Tomlin has his eyes on pursuing Buccaners defensive Coordinator Monty Kiffin. Kiffin is not under contract for next season. Stay Tuned.....You never know, if that happens we might see a Tampa 2 coming to town.

Don't laugh Brian Billick was a great OC for the Vikings.... Thats how he did become a HC in the first place.....I know he never built a great offense with the Ravens...But maybe he shouldn't have a say in player personal matters like drafting and signing free agents.....Now if you give great talent to work on the offensive side of the ball and I think the Steelers have great players to build a great offense then Billick could be a very good OC again...

If Tomlin has any thought of going to a 4-3/Tampa 2 next year it will set this team back for years....I hope there is nothing to that rumor....If there is the Rooney's need to ditch him now...lol

It would take years for the Steelers to make the switch to the 4-3-Tampa 2....

It would take a pass rusher like Freeney.....Woodley is good but there is noway he is in Freeney's class a 4-3 DE.......It would take a DT to play the 3 technique like Warren Sapp use to play...I don't see any of these current DTs on the roster that play the 3........

Hampton could be run stopper at the other DT spot......I think Aaron Smith would do alright in a 4-3 but I don't think he could pull off being Warren Sapp...lol I think Keisel might be better suited for a 4-3......

Really any of these LBs besides Timmons can play in a 4-3.....Woodley would be a DE.......Harrison couldn't cut in a 4-3.......Farrior would play the middle and Timmons would be the strong side LB......Then Foote at weak side a 4-3 is laughable....lol

The secondary probably would be better in a Tampa 2 system.......But I just don't see the horses among the front 7 to pull it off...It would take more then one off-season to get them all and make the move to a 4-3......The Steelers and fixing their OL is the main concern heading into next year...

I seriously doubt Monte Kiffin comes to Pittsburgh.
Kiffin will be 68yrs old next month only a couple years younger than Dick Lebeau who is 70.
Kiffin will stay in Tampa or maybe he goes to be the new DC in Oakland on his son's coaching staff.

Dom Capers is available. Maybe the Steelers bring him back to town??

Honestly Im not sure I want any of these old Steeler castoffs anymore. Rumors were flying about Dom Capers, Jim Haslett, Chan Gailey, etc. None of them have proven to have done anything since they left us. Yeah I know you can say they didn't have the talent around them but still track records are track records and I can't say at this point I'd want any of them on our team anymore.

I don't think Lebeau retires just yet, he's still got the passion from what I've seen and read and the Steeler players love playing for him.

We talked about this way back when Tomlin was first hired, the 43 and the 34 and our personnel. Hampton could do it no problem, same with Aaron Smith IMO. He's just got that relentless motor and he's so stoudt and powerful. Hoke could play along side Hamp for that big push in the middle and then you add Keisel to the mix who might excel there as well. Behind them though we have absolutely NOTHING for depth so it would take drafting or bringing several FA DL to play this defense. Right now we are built for the 34 and we have been drafting that way for the last 16 years so there is no reason to think that Lebeau will step down now. Our players know that scheme and anytime you have a transition like this it takes years to perfect. Im pretty sure Tomlin talked with Dick about this when he first got hired and got a feel for about how much longer Lebeau wants to stick around.

We don't need change, we need the players to step up and do the job the way they are supposed too. Dick Lebeau didn't suddenly become stupid nor did the 34 suddenly become outdated. That's just ridiculous. If they players can't do the job then they need to be either replaced or at the very least they need to have open competitions to push the starters to keep their edge; at every position.

I really wouldn't want to see us switching either, remember guys its just a rumor. The only part of this I hope comes true is the firing of Zierlein, he came from the Bills, didn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence when I heard that. We just drafted 2 OLB's who fit the 3-4, no way we switch now or even in the near future. We need to get Tunch Ilkin in here to be our OL coach.

we dont have the personel to run a 43....we need another hamptom and at least one big time DE pass rusher....like gaines adams last year

plus you dont wanna see troy play in a cover 2 full time, hes out of position 90% of the time now, cover 2 requires a safety to be over the top, he would be awful

Ligashesky and O-Line Coach Larry Zierlein both need to be given their pink slips ASAP.
Please....Oh-Please Great Football Gods on High. Impart deep wisdon on Mike Tomlin and grant him sudden inspiration to FIRE Bruce Arians immediately. Thank-you and Amen!!

The coaching staff and the roster needs a serious shake-up this off season.

I'm thinking pretty much all the guys Tomlin brought in need to be fired, lol. Ligashesky has been a failure, Zeirlien has been a failure and an embarrassment (porn email), and Bruce Arians morphs into retard mode in every critical situation.

As for the defense, there's no reason to abandon the 3-4. The 3-4 depends on the LBs getting pressure, and they haven't been able to do enough of that this year. But Woodley is going to be a beast next year, and an OLB tandem of him and Silverback should be great. Farrior had a great season, and Foote is still solid. Basically, if Woodley can step in and put up some good sack #s next year, this defense would be FAR better, especially with a healthy Aaron Smith. Then you look at our secondary, with Polamalu, Clark, Smith, and Carter giving us great depth at Safety, Taylor and Townsend are solid CBs and hopefully McFadden can continue to develop.

On offense we still have alot of talent at the skill positions. Holmes and Ward are a very good WR tandem, Miller is a quality TE, Parker and Najeh can be an excellent pair of RBs, especially if the line blocks better, and Ben is a franchise QB. By far the highest priority in the offseason has to be improving the O-line. 2nd priority is improving the special teams, and the 3rd priority is getting the eventual replacement for Aaron Smith.

Basically, if Woodley has a breakout year next year, we improve the O-line, and our special teams coverage is even remotely decent, we have a great chance of winning the Super Bowl next year.

I agree Ambridge, and I would love to see Dom Capers back.

And for the love of God, please, NO Billick!

From the Tribune-Review...

Cornerback Ike Taylor said he expects coordinator Dick LeBeau to be calling defenses for the Steelers again next season.

LeBeau turned 70 in September and has been in the NFL for almost 50 years as a player or a coach, but Taylor said he didn't get the sense that the defensive coordinator was pondering retirement.

"I'm pretty sure he'll be back," said Taylor, who talked with LeBeau yesterday. "I definitely hope (LeBeau returns), because he's been like a father figure to all of the guys on the team and especially the defense."

Taylor said he didn't plan to watch any of upcoming playoff games during his extended break and that he looked forward to spending time with his family.

"I don't even want to talk about football," Taylor said. "I'm not into football right now."
