Tough day. Didn't feel like doing much of anything. Funny, I knew it was coming, but I'm still pissed. Probably becasue we awoke from our lathargic sleep and decided to make a game of it. Oh well, the ending is what I expected and it's definitely better than it happened sooner rather than later.
Anyhow, here's my season ending report card for each player.
Charlie Batch - C - Didn't see him offer too much. Could be regressing.
Tyrone Carter - C+. Makes the most of his small size and limited athletic ability. Not sure what happened against the Jags.
Ryan Clark - B-. We missed him more than most thought when he went down.
Ricardo Colclough - F. See ya.
Willie Colon - C. Hope for the future? Still in a learning mode.
Marquis Cooper - F - All I know is he blew the JAX return. Bum status
Najeh Davenport - B-. Played like a backup RB. Stepped up big in some games. Can still contribute in the role that suits him best ...3rd down back.
Carey Davis - D. Unimpressive.
Nick Eason - D. Didn't hear his name all year.
Trai Essex - C. Not a starter but can provide depth. Did a nice job yesterday.
Alan Faneca - C+, Would be nice to keep him, but not at $9M per year. See ya!
James Farrior - C+. A little slow, but is still a good tackler. Still has a few years left in 'em.
Larry Foote - C-. Slow and weak.
William Gay - C. Did very little after a promising preseason.
Clark Haggans - D. Continued our proud tradition of lazy OLB's. Gildon in his later years comes to mind.
Casey Hampton - C-. The penguin needs to lose some weight. Casey, nobody is double teaming you anymore and you're still not doing anything!
Arnold Harrison - Inc.
James Harrison - A. Clearly our D-MVP.
Chris Hoke - C-. Too little impact.
Santonio Holmes - A. Legit deep threat, and he's only going to get better.
Brett Keisel - D, as in Did Nothing. Needs to play ST's and be a situational pass rusher only.
Chris Kemoeatu - Inc.
Travis Kirschke - F. Bum status ....
Dan Kreider - Inc, because he was too good for Arians' offense. One of Arians bigger mistakes was not to start Danny.
Clint Kriewaldt - C. (yawn, another "Average Joe")
Sean Mahan - D. This guy is a back-up. I don't care how you slice it.
Bryant McFadden - C-. So good his rookie year... what happened?
Heath Miller - A. Any other team would throw 10 balls a game at this guy.
Willie Parker - B+. Led league in rushing up till week 16, but YPC too low.
Marvin Phillip - F. Bum status ...
Troy Polamalu - D. The fact that this low-impact player made the Pro Bowl serves as proof the media really doesn't bother to watch the sport they cover. Needs to come in next year healthy and 10 lbs. heavier in muscle.
Jeff Reed - A. Automatic on field goals and improved kickoffs.
Willie Reid - F--. Clearly turning out to be an epic bust. Bum status ...
Ben Roethlisberger - A+. A truly fantastic season, 2nd to Brady in Rating. I'll take whatever bad that comes with his good anyday.
Allen Rossum - C-. Returned a kick for a TD early, then decided he was done getting positive yards for the year. No drops saves him from "D" status.
Gary Russell - C - Not really impressed which is a shame. I had hopes for him. He got totally blown up yesterday on that ST's return for a TD.
Daniel Sepulveda - D. Hasn't justified a 6th round pick yet, let alone a 4th AND a 6th.
Kendall Simmons - D is for Diabetes. It's also for subpar play.
Aaron Smith - A. True value wasn't realized by most until he got hurt.
Anthony Smith - D. I have hope for this guy for the future, but he needs a LOT of work.
Marvel Smith - D.
Matt Spaeth - B. Solid rookie campaign.
Brian St. Pierre - Inc. Why do we even keep this guy around?
Darnell Stapleton - Inc. Who?
Max Starks - C. It seems to me that his future is on the left side, not the right. I'd try to re-sign him. We need him.
Ike Taylor - B. He got burnt some, but all corners do. Pretty good season overall.
Lawrence Timmons - F. I expect more from the 15th overall pick than an occasional ST tackle.
Deshea Townsend - A (given his age, he played about as well as could have been expected)
Jerame Tuman - C-. Should have been cut about 4 years ago.
Hines Ward - A+. Always, always shows up when it counts. Some subpar games can be attributed to injury.
Greg Warren - C.
Nate Washington - B. A rare bright surprise for the team...
Cedrick Wilson - F. ...and then we have the flip side of it.
LaMarr Woodley - B+. We'll get a chance to see what he can do as a starter this year.
Dick Lebeau - B. I refuse to believe a guy involved in football for 60 years forgot it overnight. Also can't justify a grade below 'B' for the #1 ranked defense. I think that we just didn't have the players to implement his style of system, and he was unable to adjust.
Coach Tomlin - C. An average grade for an average coach leading an average team to an average record. Average.
Legishisky - F. Duh.
Bruce Arians - D Ironically, I thought his playcalling improved until the egg I watched him lay last night. I don't like this guy. I think he's busy playing checkers when every other talented OC in the league is playing chess.
