The regular season is near the end and I was wondering what your thoughts on Anthony Rossum were?

He was kind of an interesting player this year because we traded a draft pick for him shortly before the start of the season, and he was brought in to secure a big question mark for this team.

He didn't do anything besides the kick return early in the season... but I gotta say that sick feeling I got when the Steelers were about to feild a punt was gone before mid-season.

I don't know if he will be back and I would like a more explosive returner next year, but I'm glad he was brought in.

I was really glad when he caught the ball----- :haha:

Think he's a little long in the tooth,,,,,,,I don't think he'll be back next year !

It's nice to have a player who can field and secure the ball when he catches it but that's all Rossum has shown that he can do. The Steelers definately
need more production on kick-off and punt returns. The Steelers get no field position help from the return teams..........it would be great to have Randle El back returning kicks.

He was worth every penny of the draft pick we gave just to have someone that held onto the ball. We do need production out of the return game that's for sure. Willie Reid was drafted to be a return ace for us so he needs to step up to the plate in 2008.

:bigthumb: It was great when he returned one of his early kicks back for a TD but since then he's been unamazing.

The Steelers should draft Chris Johnson and their return issues will be solved....J

That's what they thought when they drafted Reid, and what they hoped would happen when they picked up Rossum. We just don't seem to fair well with return guys for some reason. ARE was the best we had in a long history of sub par returners and even he drove us nuts half the time with all his dancing...lol

I like Allen Rossum. He was pretty consistent. But hell anything was better than the whole Ricardo and Santonio crap last year.

Reid still hasnt had a good chance to prove what he can do... he has amazing upside and in my very unprofessional opinion i think we should go into next year w/ him as our starter if Allen doesnt return.... i wouldnt use a 1-4th round draft pick on a returner this year!!!

I agree. At least he doesn't fumble it.

Rossum was a huge dissapointment. It's a sad state when we're happy with someone simply because they catch the ball. We can't settle for mediocrity. I believe he may not play today which is good. It's the perfect day to put Reid back there and see what he can do. The Ratbirds should be punting often so we can get a goodlook at Reid.

Reid has a seperated shoulder so I don't know how effective he will be today.

:plus1:

No question Allen Rossum allowed us to win a couple games we would have LOST had Willie Reid been our return guy. If you can remember the pre-season games it was almost a 50/50 whether Willie would field cleanly or fumble the ball. And he didn't show very good decision making skills as far as when to fair catch, when to allow the ball to go through the end zone, when to bring it out of the end zone. In short, Willie showed he sucked as a return guy! I was relieved when Rossum came to us. He may not be one of the best return guys but at least you don't need to close your eyes on returns and pray he holds onto the ball! A lot can be said for that!

Let's see.... Willie "No Hands" Reid fumbled 2wice tonight at M&T so I think Rossum is much better suited than he is....

he sucks, however he's the best we got, i don't worry when he has the ball in his hand, but he plays his age, he's so slow, but i guess that's better than fumbling it

we really need to draft a wr/kick return specialist in the second round
