I know it is still the regular season, but I needed to post this. Aaron Smith is getting up there in years and injury problems so I know 1 guy can replace him: Chris Long. For those of you who don't know who he his, he is a DE for Virginia. When/if you get a chance to watch this guy, one thing will jump out at you: This guy has a fire in his gut. He can just flat out dominate. In a 3-4 scheme for UVA Chris Long has 12 sacks on the year! He is a perfect fit for our scheme. I would love to have this guy and if any of you have watched UVA play recently, you'll what I'm talking about.

And yes, this is Howie Long's son.

Aaron Smith is still at the top of his game right now and playing as good as any DL in the league. He's probably the most or atleast 1 of the most underrated lineman in the league.

At this point our starting 3 DL are still good to go. Hoke is a great backup. Kirschke is serviceable but I do think we need some fresh blood since McBean didn't do jack for us. I'd like to see us pick up a DL in the draft again possibly late day 1 depending on what our OL status is. If not then early on day 2.

He's very underated... I don't see him leaving anytime soon.

Steelers signed defensive end Aaron Smith to a four-year, $24.5 million contract extension. The deal will pay Smith $12.5 million over the next two seasons and makes him the highest-paid Steeler in team history.

The deal takes Smith, who was previously under contract for $4.5 million in 2007, through the 2011 campaign. Despite new head coach Mike Tomlin bringing the 4-3 defense to Pittsburgh, Smith should stay effective because he has the ability to play inside.

The way our O-Line is I dont see taking anyone other than O-line till 3rd round. Got to protect the QB. On top of it Aaron is playing way better than Orepheus.
Orepeus still aorund 10 years smith entered league in 2000 I'm sure he has a few years left in him.

Aaron Smith has a few more years in him, and he doesn't get injured as much as you think he does.

The NFL should have taken both first round picks.

Yeah why didn't they?! Cjris deserves a really respectable franchise. I would have no problems seeing him in a Chargers uni. I would have problems with these teams though:
-New England
-Dallas
-Cleveland

Nevertheless, he will make someteam Happy next April.

The Steelers need another Def End. Smith and Kiesel are solid...Eason and Kierschke not so solid

I have a few suggestions

I like balmer and moore.

Holmes is a joke, and langford is a good prospect with no true position, hes a project at best imo....not saying thats all bad, and i never heard of the other guy

Its not a matter of replacing Aaron Smith. The Steelers need at least 5 quality defensive linemen who they can "Wave" into the game.

Smith and Kiesel play about 80% of the defensive snaps.

The Steelers pass rush would improve significantly

I think we should replace Hampton, he had one man blocking him the whole game and found himself back off the ball most of the times. We truly need a studd for a defense of lineman
