Bouchette talks Wallace, Big Ben, Haley, & Free Agency

February 21, 2012 Posted by SteelerAddicts

Ed Bouchette’s latest chat on 93.7 The Fan.  We’ve highlighted a few of the key topics covered on the Vinnie & Cook show today, and of course be sure to listen to the full show:

Mike Wallace: Ed feels there’s definite danger of losing Mike Wallace but nothing definite yet, and that franchising Wallace is not going to happen.

The team will still tender Wallace  $2.7 million so they will get a first round pick in this years’ draft if he’s signed away by another team.  They could also opt to match whatever offer he potentially gets and still be able to keep them.

Recent media interviews by Steelers officials & players

February 17, 2012 Posted by SteelerAddicts

The Steelers have been fairly quiet since the season ended, in terms of media interviews and news announcements. That all began to change within the last week as Steelers GM Kevin Colbert has been making the rounds with the local Pittsburgh media to talk about the offseason.  With so much speculation surrounding the hiring of Todd Haley, comments by Ben Roethlisberger, and the speculation of a power struggle in the front office, Colbert puts all that and more into perspective.  He puts to rest any concerns about who is in control, who makes decisions, who hired who, how the salary cap is being handled and much more.  Basically if you’ve heard one interview you’ve heard them all but each is interesting to listen to nonetheless if you’re a Steelers junkie like we are.

All the questions asked in virtually every interview center around the following:

Steelers formally introduce Todd Haley at press conference

February 9, 2012 Posted by SteelerAddicts

Today was the day, the one that the Steeler Nation has been waiting for, just what would Todd Haley say in his first formal press conference? How would Mike Tomlin introduce his new coordinator? How many times would Haley be asked about working with Ben Roethlisberger or asked to speak about his emotional coaching style?

All those questions were answered as Haley took the stand after a brief introduction from Tomlin. The Steelers Head Coach was grinning from ear to ear nearly the entire time according to the Pittsburgh Trib’s Dejan_Kovacevic - Tomlin called it “my great pleasure” to intoduce Haley, now smiling broadly in corner of room as Haley speaks.

Ben to meet with Art Rooney II to discuss direction of the Steelers offense (audio included)

January 27, 2012 Posted by SteelerAddicts

We all knew this was coming, Ben Roethlisberger was going to say something at the Pro Bowl this week in regards to the Bruce Arians retirement/release/”I had to leave” situation.   As was reported this morning by the Pittsburgh Trib, Ben had this to say about new change coming at Offensive Coordinator:

“When I get back, I’m going to go up to Mr. Rooney’s office and ask him what he wants from me, what he wants from this offense, because I think that’s a viable question for him,” Roethlisberger told the Tribune-Review on Thursday following an AFC practice at Hickam Air Force Base. “He’s our owner and our boss, so I really would like to know kind of what he wants and where he sees our offense going because I’d like to tell him where I see us going.”

”We feel like we are really close to being an elite offense,” Roethlisberger said. “For your leader to be gone is kind of a shocker, but you’ve got to be ready for whatever the Rooney’s and coach (Mike) Tomlin decide it our next step.”
