Steelers to wear vintage 1934 throwback uniforms

The Steelers unveiled their new throwback uniforms for the coming season today at a press conference held live on Steelers.com.  Team President Art Rooney II lead the show with a short introduction and then gave way to Isaac Redman who modeled them for the press on hand. He was chosen because he wears #33, the celebrate the year the team was founded and purchased by Art Rooney Sr., The Chief.

They are vintage 1934 era uniforms.  We’ve provided some pictures to show the history of the teams uniforms over the years and also some images courtesy of Steelers.com at the unveil today.

Don’t forget to check out our previous article on the closer look of the new Nike Steelers uniforms released previously at the league wide press conference.

Below is the collage of previous throwbacks including the  previous throwback uniforms worn up until last season, the 1955 throwbacks worn in 1994, 80th season logo, and of course the new uni’s just unveiled today. Personally I’m partial to the 1955 digs…sort of. The Tribune Reviews Dejan Kovacevic posted the last image, via twitter, of the original uniforms shown at the the time in a team photo.
