Good Steelers mocks without addressing NT? Yes indeed…

The NFL draft is just weeks away now and the mocks are in full swing with tweaks, second guesses, and ideas being tossed about like Lombardi’s in the Steelers front office.  Ok, just a little humor there but you get the idea.

We feature some of the mock drafts created by members of SA, here on the blog periodically. You can check them all out in our war room section.

MDSteel15 released his latest mock here on SA which doesn’t include drafting a nose tackle. This draws some controversy with fans for sure, but one can argue that this position is the 3rd biggest need on the Steelers right now.  Also, that the combination of Hood, McLendon, and eventually Hampton (after he recovers from his ACL) surgery will suffice for 2012? You certainly couldn’t go wrong by addressing this need but there are also some scenario’s, like the one shown below, that can justify not doing so too. Tell us what you think about it and of course check out the mock below.

With the cuts the Steelers have made, money hungry Mike Wallace pricing himself out of free agency, and the compensatory picks determined, this is what I see:

1. Alabama ILB Dont’a Hightower – I know an obvious pick but a definite need with how thin we are here.
2. Iowa State G Kelechi Osemele – can play RT also but his is a mauler in the run game!
3. Miami(OH) RG Brandon Brooks – the more I see about him the more I like and this could shore up the interior for years to come!!!
4. Utah State RB Robert Turbin – He is a sleeper prospect who has some speed and is extremely strong.
5. Northwestern TE Drake Dunsmore – Versatile player with good hands.
6. Michigan WR Junior Hemingway – Great hands and we still don’t know who we have after Emmanuel Sanders.
7. Oregon State FB Joe Halahuni – Let the running game return!
-Comp 1. Texas A&M K Randy Bullock – voted best kicker in college this year….
-Comp 2. South Carolina St S Christian Thompson – big kid at 6′ 211 lbs with excellent speed! Would love to grab him.
-Comp 3. TCU CB/KR Greg McCoy – kid has speed to burn!
