2012 combine results for Offensive Line: Steelers prospects

The offensive lineman went through their drills this weekend at the 2012 NFL Scouting combine. There are several players in the early rounds that the Steelers could have a significant interest in. Mike Adams and Cordy Glenn both figure to be 1st round selections although the Steelers should have a legitimate shot at either one at 24 when they choose. Should they decide to go after Dontari Poe at NT or Dont’a Hightower at MLB for example, they can still go after Kevin Zeitler or Kelechi Osemele (2nd round projections) or Lucas Nix (3rd round projection). You never know how things will pan out on draft day; at any time there can be a run on a certain position. If this happens at a time when the Steelers are not near their slot you could make a case for trying to trade up in the 2nd or 3rd round to grab one of these players.

There are  many options for Mike Tomlin and the Steelers to consider early in regards to the offensive line prospects available. Any one of these players would be a solid addition to Sean Kugler’s group (Steelers Offensive Line Coach) so they really can’t go wrong if they’re able to land one of them. Fortunately this draft is deep enough, especially at Guard, that the Steelers should be able to address multiple needs on either side of the line.

Below are the combine results for key players that the Steelers may be looking at in the early rounds:

Peter Konz out of Wisconsin is considered the top Center in the upcoming NFL draft and figures to go mid round 1. There is talk that he could be an elite Guard as well, he’s certainly got the skill set for it. Teams that will looking for Centers though won’t be able to pass him up. Should he fall to the Steelers, and he’s willing to play Guard he could be a very good option because they love versatile lineman.
