The Steelers have been fairly quiet since the season ended, in terms of media interviews and news announcements. That all began to change within the last week as Steelers GM Kevin Colbert has been making the rounds with the local Pittsburgh media to talk about the offseason. With so much speculation surrounding the hiring of Todd Haley, comments by Ben Roethlisberger, and the speculation of a power struggle in the front office, Colbert puts all that and more into perspective. He puts to rest any concerns about who is in control, who makes decisions, who hired who, how the salary cap is being handled and much more. Basically if you’ve heard one interview you’ve heard them all but each is interesting to listen to nonetheless if you’re a Steelers junkie like we are.
All the questions asked in virtually every interview center around the following:
Status of Hines Ward – Will he back back ** Rashard Mendenhall – His recovery and where he fits in for 2012. ** Mike Wallace – Finding a way to secure Wallace long term. ** Salary cap – How the Steelers are working to get compliant before March 13th. ** Roster cuts and Restructures – McFadden and Battle released; Woodley, Timmons, & Taylor contract restructures ** Hiring of Todd Haley – who’s decision was it ultimately ** Steelers President Art Rooney II seemingly more vocal about roster and coaching moves this offseason ** Roethlisberger & Haley; reasoning behind the two not having had a formal meeting yet
Here is a list of some recent interviews done by Steelers GM Kevin Colbert and also one by Ben Roethlisberger.
