Polamalu out for the pro bowl; replaced by Brian Dawkins

A report came down tonight via BroncosTalk.com that Safety Brian Dawkins has been added to the AFC Pro Bowl roster, replacing Steelers Safety Troy Polamalu.

Polamalu was able to start & play in all 16 games for the Steelers this past season, although he did suffer a head injury vs Kansas City on November 27th. He suffered some bumps and bruises throughout the year but nothing major other than the concussion like symptons on a flying, vintage Troy Polamalu, tackle where his head hit the knee of Broncos receiver at the time, Steve Maneri.  Polamalu, along with other Steelers veterans routinely got time off during the week from practice to rest up.

Broncos’ veteran safety Brian Dawkins was named to the 2012 Pro Bowl on Thursday, replacing Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu for the AFC squad.  Originally named a first alternate in December, Dawkins will make the ninth Pro Bowl appearance of his career. Dawkins will join cornerback Champ Bailey, defensive end Elvis Dumervil, linebacker Von Miller, running back Willis McGahee and left tackle Ryan Clady as the six players representing the Broncos in the NFL’s annual All-Star Game.  The sextet are the most players Denver has sent to Hawaii since 2001.
