The Steelers officially have 10 players added to their offseason roster today according to the team. These players will help fill out the roster that the Steelers bring with them to OTA’s, mini camps, and eventually training camp. All NFL teams sign these types of free agent players during the offseason, normally the Steelers look towards their practice squad first and then go outside the team to find additional personnel that could potenially be a diamond in the rough.
The Steelers signed 10 players today to Reserve/Future contracts for the 2012 season. Five members of the Steelers’ 2011 practice squad were among the 10 players signed to the team’s 2012 offseason roster.
The Steelers announced today that OG John Malecki, TE Jamie McCoy, OT Chris Scott, OT Trevis Turner and DT Corbin Bryant have re-signed with the team after spending part or all of the 2011 season on the club’s practice squad. Bryant was the only player to spend time on the active roster in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Steelers also signed quarterback Jerrod Johnson, defensive lineman Mike Blanc, defensive tackle Kade Weston, cornerback Marshall McFadden and defensive back Antonio Smith.
